iPhone GPS - Not working

Hello. I recently upgraded my head unit to the Pioneer avh-x5700bhs. Since the upgrade, my iPhone no longer will hold a consistent GPS signal when I leave it upright in the cup holders below the head unit like I normally do. When I leave the phone on a stand near the windows, this issue seems to go away.

Am I out of my mind, or could the new head unit potentially have an effect on the GPS signal?

Wtf. Maybe something isn't shielded well and it's interfering with the iPhone signal? I'd return the radio if it's interfering. Crazy...
