ok, so i want to mount this thing right around the a/c vent to the left of the radio so i can see it. ive looked on apples website, and best buys, but all i can seem to find is the thing that plugs into the charger, but it doesnt appear to be long enough to reach my needs. anyone else mount something in that general region, have any tips? thanks

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
if you mount it to the ac vent, condensate builds up on it and can rust the charging port. Happened to my last phone, now i keep my iphone in that tray next to the stick. or in the cup holder by the center console....

OK...I tried 2 ways of mounting my Itouch and both were flimsy and I got tired of messing with them.

    I went to Walmart and

    1) Purchased one of those cheap cell phone holders in the auto section. It's the cheap one with the suction cup and bend-able pole. About $7

    2) Purchased a pack of "Bulldog Hardware" corner braces. The package shown is part# HI-978....1.5". I didn't use these, but used the same brand in 2"..part #HI-979......$2......Also used some bolts I had laying around the house

    3) Pulled out the removable black piece below the vent.

    4) Bent the metal corner brace to get the correct angle

    5) Drilled a hole through the center of this removable piece, as well as a 2nd hole lined up with the hole in the corner brace

    6) Drilled 2 holes in the cell phone plastic base.

I did it in about 20 minutes and could have done a cleaner job, but I was in a hurry. It is very sturdy and the plastic cell phone base keeps the condensation off the A/C vent off the Ipod. I had planned on cleaning it up a little, ubt haven't got around to doing so. I also had thought of mounting it to the left of the radio, but it seemed better to the right. Easier to reach over and change songs. Hope this helps:)

I took a small windshield mount disk for dash install and removed the doulbe sticky tape and used some car glue and mounted it to the bottom of the front cup holder. Then took a Bracketron Rotating Windshield Mount (6.5 inch) and set it to the disk. Then I took a Proclip Iphone pass-thru connector and we have a Iphone stand. See PIC. This allows my Kenwood DDX514 to pull music from my Iphone. You can get cheaper holders.
