    Anyone else having this issue?

I have an iPhone 8. I use pandora on the phone (since the native Pandora Entune app is no longer available). If I press play, specifically on the phone, everything plays fine. When I get out of the car and eventually get back in and start the car, the music does not automatically start playing anymore. If I click the play/pause button on the Entune display, it does nothing. It used to automatically pick up the song where it left off. I now have to unlock my phone, open Pandora, and press play every time I enter the vehicle.

Anyone know if this is a common Entune issue or if it’s an iPhone issue? HELP!

It’s neither the phone or entune. That’s a function of the app. Some apps do that others don’t, simply functionality programmed into the app.

Welcome to the entune pain, and no its not the app as someone above mentioned because simply closing the app (spotify / pandora / etc.) does not remedy the issue, you need to totally reboot (power on and off the headunit) entune for it to work again. Happens to me constantly, my 17 did it, my 15 did it, all of my 19s did and do it. I have yet to find a solution or what exact scenario causes it, could maybe be an iphone thing too, only phone ive ever owned for the last decade.

Yeah it’s definitely not a Pandora issue. I’ve always used Pandora and it didn’t start doing this until about ~6 weeks ago. I’ve tried resetting/updating headunit and phone but no luck so far...was hoping someone had taken it to a dealer and found a successful fix?

pretty useless to have Bluetooth if I have to pick up my phone and unlock it to connect it every time

Problem is it doesnt always do it for me so it would be hard for a dealer to replicate I also know their solution is just putting a new unit in there but will end up doing the same thing, its an entune thing, whenever I take my mom's jeep or dad's raptor which are also already paired with my phone, never an issue.

Try leaving Pandora open on your phone. I use Spotify and will auto play if I don't close the app.

I do not have these issues with an android phone and entune premium, seems the newest iphone updates are breaking things.

I use Spotify. The behaviour I see over bluetooth is that the music buffers somewhere, then it plays at a high speed (Alvin and the Chipmunks), then pauses, lather, rinse ,repeat.

What works for me is to shut off the bluetooth on my iPhone 6 and then turn it on again. Or I just tether the phone through the USB jack.

I thought about upgrading my phone, but from what I can tell at least some people have problems with every phone on the market, Android/Apple. So I'm not dropping $1200 on a new phone.

That used to happen to me all the time with my old iphone and 15. But yep, have had 7,8, Xs and they all still don't jive with entune at times, don't get the chipmunk anymore but get just random times it wont reconnect and the headunit is unresponsive forcing a restart.

Yeah, I still have to start it manually sometimes too but it usually works.

I also had this problem, with an iPhone and using Pandora. The easiest thing as @TacoBuffet pointed out, just press the volume knob in turning audio off, wait a few seconds then turn audio back on again and it will kickstart Pandora.

I see all these people that have issues with the head unit/iPhone Bluetooth. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I have had 2 iPhones since I got my truck and neither of them has had a single issue. Music plays fine, doesn't cut out, doesn't go chimpmonkie, my Spotify will start playing automatically, head unit doesn't restart when listening to music...

Have you guys tried turning up the volume iva the steering wheel? If I pause my music and turn the volume up that way a few notches, it will resume my music.

Haven't tried that but man are you lucky, my 15, 17, and 19s all have done it all different iphones. Thanks!

yeah agreed. That’s the big problem I’m trying to figure out before taking it to a dealer. It’s like 70% of the time and with my luck, it will work flawlessly while they look at it...

:annoyed: I don’t know if I can let it go that easily. This is my first time having a new car (it’s only 3 years old) and it can’t do something as simple as play music?!

I feel ya man, but been around here long enough to see all they do is replace the unit and it ends up doing the same thing. I’ve done phone resets, software updates, still does it. I really think it’s an entune thing. Toyota is known for not the greatest media software.

Have you tried doing a firmware update to the entune system(s)? I'm only mentioning it because I just purchased a 2020 Taco SR5 V6 w/ non JBL entune system and I found that it has a firmware update available, which specifically mentions addressing some iPhone issues. I use an Android, so I'm not going to apply the update, but thought I would throw it out there. Sorry if this is considered "necro-ing the thread."

Entune is horrendous. It is not an app or your phone. Its the truck.

My only actual gripe about my truck. I have found sometimes if I leave and come back and wait a minute or two whatever I was listening to (podcast, Music etc.) will just randomly start up again. I have also had times where I just hop out quick and get back in it does the Alvin and the chipmunks thing.
