I've got Apple workstations, an iPad and an iPhone 3Gs. They all work (almost) seamlessly -- save for my Bluetooth on the desktop not working properly.

I like them for their simplicity, and the fact that they have been faster and smoother than every other device I've tried. Some devices operate on faster networks, but I haven't found ones that work as fluidly as the iPhone, et al.

The one thing I am extremely grateful for is getting onto the AT&T plan while they still had unlimited data. I use about 3GB a month so this is huge for me. Neither Verizon or AT&T offer this plan anymore.

having owned and used both i would say iPhone. i switched to an android because of the "network" at ATT and i was bored. i am on sprint now and really happy, but if they ever get the iphone i will be sleeping on the sidewalk to be first in line.

all the points that i would say both for and against have been covered. however the one thing that i may have missed is that my android crashes way more than the iphone ever did, or even my touch does. both being "little computers" crashes are to be expected, maybe acceptable. the more you toss on my android the worse it gets. the iPhone on the other hand keeps on trucking and is stable even when every bit of space is used up.

Everybody's STILL humping at Apple's leg... It makes me laugh. Apple makes their shit so it is minimally compatible with everything else. That is the reason that I don't buy hardly any Apple stuff (I have an iPod touch is all). The iPod is undoubtedly the best, but I am turned off at how they have nearly cornered the market, as far as personal music players are concerned anyway. I tend to shy away from Apple products, for they don't offer me hardly anything that can't be found anywhere else.

As a software engineer the two are getting so comparable that the choice can be hard. If there are not very many Applications that you need that Apple doen't support go iPhone. I presonally like how the OS is screwed down less to break, easier to use.

    Theres my opinion good luck.

the SOP of apple announcing a new phone and other major releases regularly at the WWDC ever june... the 4g is the fourth and the first was announced in 2007. this has traditionally been the setting for jobs to do his thing every year since returning to apple and releasing the bondi blue imac in 1998.

    Coming Soon....
This month is my moto milestone (canadian droid) turns 1 year old. After having android 2.1 for year, I LOVE IT.

I've played around with friends iphones and last fall I was given an iphone 3g which I promptly jailbroke, as it wasn't going to be hooked up to a network. (phone was rogers, I am telus). Right now, the iphone is collecting dust.

    Android all the way.

wait for that Bionic is your best bet. why spend top price on that iphone when it is an old product? I mean... think about it.. the new iphone comes out every June, so in a few months you will have an outdated product (though it is already dated). If you are stuck on the iphone, wait for the 5th gen to come out

Without reading any of the other posts..

2 years is a long time to be stuck on old 3g technology. I would go with one of the Android 4g phones.

I've seen the iPhone 5 referenced a lot recently. You will see an iPhone 4g a lot sooner than you will see an iPhone 5.

Personally I would wait for the iPhone 5 but being on Verizon, IDK if they will receive it nearly as soon as AT&T. Apple should be coming out with the iphone 5 in June probably taking delivery in July.

    http://www.appleinsider.com/article...sport_new_a8_processor_qualcomm_baseband.html

I have a my 3GS which I love and while both the operating systems are great (I live with 5 other guys and were split 50:50 iphone vs android) the android phones (I believe they all have different HTC's from either verizon of sprint) They're build quality is shit. They have had broken screens from a drop as low as a table. I have accidentally dropped mine down the stairs at school a bunch of times and its still fine. Also apple's warranty and customer service is amazing (as an apple use something I would assume you already know). I brought my phone in twice and had it fixed/replace with no questions or issues. Once because since it was an intitial release model the glass laminate on the screen had seperated and been filed up with dust and they replaced the screen on the spot. A second time because the silent switch on mine started malfunctioning (wouldn't go to silent and just kept vibrating) and again they just replaced the phone no questions asked.

So while both are great devices, the droid phones unfortunately don't have a store you can go to and get it serviced and from experience Verizon's warranty/service dept's are a b**** to deal with.

im not humping apples leg i have a macbook pro and an imac, and an ipod touch. why would i buy android? (the more i think about it the less i want android.) seems pointless to me.

If you have everything thats apple (like me) then you dont have to worry about compatibility issues....

Just got my 4G Droid today... Lovin it so far. I have been following them both for a while. I run a PC based computer company so for me it made more sense for the Droid.

PS: My only bitch is that I still for some reason can't send pics to TW live though Sprint. Not Droids fault though.

If you were my client, I'd tell you iPhone simply because everything else you have is Apple. Everything is designed to work together, and work together well.

Now if you were PC based, I'd say either one. And if you were a nerd who likes to tweak and explore and wants the greatest flexibility, I'd definitely say Android. Open source is awesome for those driven to explore. But you're right in that a lot of it is not ready for primetime. Not yet, that is (though it's coming on fast).

But in your case, you're wedded to the Apple system. And it's a damn fine product line. In your case, stick with the seamless stability. Unless you're interested in, or otherwise have a reason to explore cross-platform, why rock that boat?
