Get both. My friend did it and after a few weeks he pick the one that meets his needs. A lot of $$$ to try but was the only way to really find out which would be better.

Holy Crap.... 6 pages and I still didn't find what I was looking for!!

I'd love to get the iphone, but I'm not sure I need it for the casual usage and the overall cost of the phone & apps. Went to the Verizon store today to chat a bit...looks like the Verizon Iphones are all gone and there's a waiting list for when they come out again in March. So he tells me anyway...

Talked to him about the differences between the two phones..... He mentioned that 70% of the iphone apps will cost you $ - is that true?
Versus getting a shit-ton of Droid apps for free. ??

Please pardon - as I've never had a data phone. Panda (or anyone) - you mentioned itunes...what kind of headaches are there to hookup to itunes? Or does that involve a different program to download (on your computer & phone)? Downloading a program isn't a big deal...really... as long as after its done and setup, you can seamlessly maintain & syce to the phone??

My mother-in-law has a Kindle and my sister-in-law has ATT iphone. My sister-n-law actually shares (I think - or accesses her account somehow)with my mother-in-law and they share books & such. How easy/difficult would that be to do with the Droid? Not that I read much....

How about Droid & interacting with Netflix & DirectTV DVR?? Or are those all APPS that you need to get?

Sorry for all the questions..... contract up on April.
    Thanks!

Panda, If I had all Apple products at home, I'd probably go with the iphone.

Anyone know what this is about?

My Wife went to Verizon to get the iphone, and compared it to the Droid Incredible. She liked that it was more easy to use than the iphone, and that more free stuff was availible for it. And being able to pop out an SD card, and throw it into her computer sealed the deal. Shes getting the Droid! :woot:

I share the same experiences... Battery was also an issue. When traveling (by plane), I like to carry an extra battery so I can use my phone as much as I would like without worrying about the next time I can find an outlet. I currently have the Incredible.

I may look into iPhone once they release a 4g Version. But until then, I am more than happy with Android.

    My Verizon iPhone Review:

    In one word....AMAZING

after only a few days of use ill never go back to android.

iOS is night and day smoother. Verizons 3G network is still off the chain. The internet is SO easy! i HATED going on the internet on my droid. The apps are 10x better. The Retina display is effing sex!!! The Video is AMAZING ive been using it for snowboarding. The camera takes some pretty decent shots especially with the hipstamatic app. I have the 32g so im not worried about memory. The battery KILLS my rooted droid the lowest i got it down to so far (in one whole day with no charging) is 52%.

    Facebook mobile is better
    The music layout is better
the touch screen is more responsive
easier to text than any touchscreen android ive ever used (even better than my brothers Droid x)
The customizability hasnt been a problem for me yet. i have it set to exactly how i want.
    The screen is better
iOS is WAY better than android IMO
everything just seems faster and more "instant" than android.

i have had ZERO issues as of yet. im super hyped and i know i made the right decision.

ACTUALLY: the only issue i have is that i think the size of the phone is just a HAIR smaller than the ATT version so my otterbox case has just a teeny tiny bit of wiggle room. (compared to my friends otterbox on her att iphone 4 wich is snug) i might return the otterbox and try a new one just in case. because my InCase, fits perfectly snug... so maybe its the otterbox.....

but so far 10 out of 10.

Nice!! I like the SD card also. When you yank the SD card out, does it remember all your personal settings? My current phone...if I take the battery out or the SD card out, it goes back to factory settings (and its annoying).

So you can have a spare battery and pop a new one in? Same as I asked Chris...does it keep all your settings?

I already have itunes at home setup for my ipods (and an account).

So, are you saying....you buy an Apple APP for your droid and that allows you to hook up to the computer/itunes and it'll sync my entire playlists & music just like I do with my ipods? What's the APP called?

Yes, you just throw your extra battery in and everything comes back, all settings saved.

I purchased an extended battery off Amazon for $40.

Yes, You can pop the batt. out, and put a new one in, and all settings are saved. As for the SD card, if you transfer pics and songs to the phone, then remove the card, Yes. Otherwise, if you pull the card, the info goes with it.

Tons of posts and I only read your first one but I would like to add my 2 cents. I had the original droid, loved it when I had it and had fun messing with it. I then got the droid X, love that even more. I recently booted up the og droid to mess around with and wow is it slow, it seems like a completely different phone than what I thought it was when I first got it.

Moral of the story, when you get a new droid your old one seems just that...old. I am going to upgrade to the bionic or whatever is available in Aug for my upgrade.

Then again I am a PC guy and always will be, I hate Itunes and got rid of it along with my Ipod when I got my Droid X.

Very much joking, sorry if I offended. It was a reference to Top Gear (the British one), people buying the new and trendy very cool things are always referred to as cocks (Very funny video explaining). All in jest, enjoy the show if you never have, it is the best for car (EDIT: and occasionally truck) lovers.

The good thing is (for me), is I've never had a Data phone before - so anything I get will be a world better than what I have now. As long as the darn thing has signal & doesn't crash...I'm good!

I'd love to have the iphone specifically for the hype after owning 2 ipods....

But in reality, the droid phones are looking more and more ideal for us (husband and I are both looking). Availability will probably be better, we could probably get a better deal on two phones....

No, there's no Apple app for Droids. I was speaking for iPhones. There are Kindle apps for the Android phones so you can read Kindle books on the droid.

For the Droid, I believe you just drag your songs to the phone like it was a memory stick. I don't have a Droid, so perhaps those who do can comment if they'll play the m4a format. I believe the new iTunes songs are m4a (m4b being the protected format). If those won't play on your droid, you can convert them to MP3. You would probably have to create new playlists on your droid. If your songs are m4b format, you'll need to convert them to an m4a format before you can convert them to mp3. I used a program called QTFairUse to convert from m4b to m4a and then used another application to convert m4a to mp3.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frm03YvspxY

There are utilities which will convert all the songs to mp3 in one shot.

I'm considering a Motorola Atrix for my next phone. It's a dual-core android phone with 1GB of ram, available on AT&T (My wife works for AT&T and already has the iPhone 4).
