iphone7 in a Qi case on a magnetic Qi FrankenMount. Works great.

Jump in the truck set the phone on the mount. Stop, grab the phone and step out of the truck. I haven't plugged a cable into my phone in months.

I am using the USB port to both charge my iPhone 7 Plus as well as listen to music via the cable vs. Bluetooth. The audio over the cable has a bit more punch to it and you won't have the annoying issues with jitters and delay that happens sometimes with the iPhone 7's and the Entune system. Some have said there is not enough power to charge an iPhone from the USB port. I find it not only charges it, but charges it just as quickly as the Apple "Sugar Cube" charger.

My Corolla couldn't charge my phone while it was streaming Pandora, it would remain constant or drop a percentage. I haven't tried it in the Tacoma yet because my life is based so locally I never really have to worry about charging it. But if I can a bit more kick from the sound out of my supposed "premium" sound system, then i'll give it a shot.

I just use the USB port to charge it.. Most of my daily commute is local and short so I never felt the need to get a Qi case since I'm not behind the wheel for a long period of time.

As @LivinOnEdge posted, it seemed it wasn't keeping up when I tried it. It definitely didn't supply enough to drive my Qi charger which needs minimum 1.5A (7.5W) supply. Your comparison to the Apple 5W (1A) charger may be the reason.

Something else I thought of but haven't tested; perhaps the Entune unit supplies more amperage to the USB port when it's actively using it such as for playing music from your phone?

I find the usb port does not charge my phone when not streaming music or when streaming music, so i just use a double usb cig adaptor in the glovebox.

I use a monster branded charger that looks almost identical. Keep in in center consol and run the cord out and keep my phone in the square cup holder near the shifter.

Does anyone have issues when connecting through USB and it saying the iPod isn't connected? Iphone 7, and it charges, just isn't playing the music. It did for a few days and now it doesn't. Says to see the manual. Did that. Same result.

Yes I noticed this too but thought it was just my ears playing tricks. Thinking more about it some audio fidelity is definitely lost over bluetooh.
