AT&T has upped the data limit for those who pay for tethering from 2gb to 4gb at no additional cost. Tethering is $20/month. It's not really any different for those who don't pay for tethering. AT&T charged $10 per gb beyond 2gb on the newer data plans. If you pay for the overage anyway because you use more than 2gb, adding tethering would give you the ability to use the phone as a modem as well.

AT&T just upped the anti by offering an 8G iPhones for $49. Wonder if this will start any sort of price war?

I can believe that. The two biggest dogs in the market battle it out. Compitition is good. Competitive pricing & more choices for us.

It doesn't much matter. It's an iPhone and people who want one but maybe think it's out of their price range will jump on this.

    I hear you though.

It's not really retarded if you have coverage problems with your current provider. Unlimited data wouldn't matter if you have trouble staying connected.

Not really saying that it's not as capable, just that it's not the 4 for those who are wanting it.

    Question...

Are the iphones the same for both AT&T & Verizon? I mean...the same interface, the same apps, the same firmware (??), etc??

So, If I research the iphone (this is all new to me) - does it matter what carrier I have when I'm researching for information?

I'm assuming not, but I had to ask.

    I don't need that feature.

I was looking more for the actual operating system type information. Are they both the same operating system (or operation of) on both the AT&T iphones vs the Verizon Iphones?

Just a minor difference around the edge design. The interior housing is also a bit difference. But remember that Verizon use CMDA and ATT use GSM (sim card). As stated by Dmoney... One can multi-task while calling and the other cant.

Other than what I said above.... its basically a Iphone4 (same spec)

ps: Both run on different frameware. Verizon = iOS 4.2.6 Att = iOS 4.2.1

My frustration is that I use my cellphone to make business calls and some times I use the internet. In my own house, I only have one bar so I can't use the cellphone. In Pasadena, San Marino, Altadena and Arcadia (California) in some areas I have full signal and next block is searching, don't even think about make a phone call, or you will be calling 3 or 4 times to finish the conversation. Last Sunday I left my house to have branch, so on the way there we decided to go to another restaurant and I wanted to make reservations, opened safari, google the name of the restaurant, long story short I made it to the restaurant before I could get the phone number to call, 10 fricking minutes and I couldn't get the info. And this is not the first time. I have a 3G iphone, I already troubleshooted like 3 times with at&t, my workers have Verizon and I'm always end up using their phones..

In terms of Apps - are they all the same? Or is there a Verizon version and an AT&T version? Or would that depend on the APP and what it does?

If anyone has any iphone for dummies websites...let me know.:eek::eek:
