Don't do it ... I went from note 4 to iPhone 7 and I regret it everyday. The new note comes out next month just wait. Video playing sucks on the iPhone as does everything else. Stay strong and keep your note . ( I switched because I killed my battery on my note )

Note 4 has a removable/replaceable battery. I'm on my third battery and still going stong! I'll likely just keep this until it takes a poop anyways. I'm sure my newborn will likely toss it in the bathtub or something in the next few months.

I am a cybersecurity professional and very technically-inclined. I've been an Android user since the T-Mobile G1; however, I am thinking about switching to an iPhone for my next device. I'm no longer interested in tinkering with my phone. I just want a solid and consistent experience. Also, Apple has pretty much adapted every main feature and gimmick in vanilla Android.

They just announced the new line of iPhones. The 8, 8+ and X. Both have Qi wireless charging

Are you required to get a canadian version? Or could you get an "unlocked" USA phone?

I dunno. I would assume buying directly from apple would be no different Canada vs. USA, but that's almost a direct conversion with the exchange rate. It's priced "correctly" for the Canadian dollar, but $1300 is still $1300 :p. Regardless I wouldn't get it. I'll probably go for the 8 when I upgrade.

not everyone has the luxury to run a thin case. i run a rugged case as does the wife. the case is just thick enough to make the connection spotty so we gave up on it and went to a samsung fast charger in the truck.

Exactly my reasoning as well. I don't really tinker anymore so having a phone that is that wide open isn't a necessity. I prefer the user friendliness of the iPhone now. Simplicity is what makes the phone so attractive.

Yep. I suspect the pad in the cubby is part of the culprit too. My post was merely in response to your implication that nobody could use any case at all.

No. Wouldn't use it now even if I had Qi. For me, the phone needs to be visible and accessible. It's worthless to stuff it in the little cubby.

Speed wise - iPhones are absolutely great for that first year of ownership, and then are still pretty fast in that second year... they start feeling their age in the third year of ownership..regardless of whether the latest iOS is installed (which is usually always recommended due to security) or if you hold off with intent of keeping the phone fast. I don't think it's apple intentionally making the older phones slower on purpose through planned obsolescence...it's just the amount of security overhead running in the background (which increases throughout the year via updates) + increased feature sets...older processors just aren't capable of running everything perfectly in parallel. When they get old though..it's the fucking keyboard that starts lagging first...

The batteries do have the impression of premature deterioration. Part of it's due to occasionally buggy iOS updates...other times it's due to the battery wearing either due to hot temperature exposure or too many recharge cycles. I think I took really good care of my 6s...but the battery will deplete to 10% rather quickly by early afternoon just with regular checks, a 20 minute FaceTime , a 30 minute phone call. Usually need recharging by middle day on the weekends.

The ecosystem is slick especially if you become a power user ..but for what it is it's sooooo expensive to keep up with it between 'needing' to be buying a new iPad or new iMac or new iwatch or new iPhone continuously. It easily costs thousands just to keep up ... and you never are really kept up since a device refresh is occurring every few months in that ecosystem. If you don't keep up, the devices do become slower feeling and booting as they age, and some of the seamless file sharing features start disappearing.

Neither Samsung or Apple are perfect. They both have pros and cons...and quiet problems kind of like Toyotas problems which only some customers know about. Which ever brand has the least cons with the least impact to you should be who you go with. If you like Samsung and had good experiences, maybe just stick with them.

you sure you have a note 4? the note 5 no longer had a removable battery.

look in phone details and see if its a "N920" model, which is the note 5.

To each their own. iTunes is a fine as a media player/manager. But if you're syncing your phone or storing anything locally, you're doing it wrong. Cloud ftw.

Just not iTunes cloud. That really is awful.
