I can't remember the last time I had to do anything with iTunes on my PC. Been at least 2 years. Funny how people still bring that up.

Finally be able to use 1 of the three features I never thought I'd use on this truck.

    Qi Charger
    GoPro mount
    Crawl Control

From all the complaints that people say the Qi charges slowly or its hard to line up. It may still be better to plug in through an a/c adapter. I'll be getting an 8 myself so I hope that it works as intended. But I generally have a backup charger just in case.

It's an actual fact, wireless charging is SLOW, convenient but slow.

I believe it, I just haven't had a chance to test it myself because I don't have a wireless charging device.

I'll definitely be buying an iPhone X just because I have a Tacoma with the Qi charger.

I see about 14-15% charge increase per thirty minutes on my iphone7 whether using the cubby Qi charger or my Qi charging magnetic phone mount. So no it's not a speed demon fast charge for your drained phone. More of a maintain the charge while streaming music or whatever. (*)

Once I figured out proper placement (depends on phone and where it's receiver patch is located) it wasn't any trouble to place it properly. The big thing that'll kill your charging ability is a thick case. Inductive charging works better the closer the coils are to each other.

(*) with a couple Qi charging pads at home and at work in the places where I was already setting my phone down, my phone is usually much more charged than when I used to have to plug it into a cable.

When the Qi can charge at 2.1+ Amps then I'll switch to wireless charging.

    seriously
How many will go and blow the $1000+ for this when their phone is still good.

Every time one comes out they always have the lineups to buy one and so many spend the money for it.
My girlfriend has it, still prefer my galaxy to them.
Better batteries, and really when you compare specs they're better than the iphones.
They're talking about it on the news right now the new iphone x will be $1300CND. Seriously what a waste of fuckin money. So many buy it just to have the status of it. I don't see the point in buying the latest phones anymore as soon as they come out unless you need a new phone.

My carrier keeps telling me I can upgrade now for $100 bla bla bla. but why would I spend $100 when my Galaxy s7 is still working great? I have no issues with it. It does everything I need.
And I have a TRD Offroad and in canada there was no tech package lol so I don't even have qi charging and from all I hear about it its just useless.

You realize it's not either-or, right? You can still plug in when you need faster charging even if you use wireless for other times.

One nice thing, is now that apple has adopted it, I'm sure improvements to the tech will happen more quickly as more and more people start using it. Or at least that's what I hope

That's why they still have so many older models imo. Prices are getting real high for the "flagship phones". Few people will get the iPhone X if they "need" a new phone. That product is purely a want imo. If you need a new phone I'm sure most will grab the older models.

Yes. My hope is we'll see a lot more car phone mounts incorporating Qi charging. The cubby is useless if you use your phone for Waze or other nav app while driving.

Agreed. I don't have the Qi charger, but yes I can see how that is a big limitation. The dream is wireless charging without the device having to be in contact with any surface or pad. One day maybe :p

It'll also be interesting to see what deals the carriers issue to attract customers (or curb defections).

Last year I had a two year old iphone 6 in fine shape and no intention of upgrading. Then AT&T offered up $650 in credits (spread over 2 years) if you bought the iphone7 from them and traded in an iphone6. With zero intention of leaving AT&T that was a no-brainer to let them buy my phone for me.

Wireless charging isn't going to get much better than it is right now because of the physics. The inverse square law pretty much explains why. I work with a bunch of scientifically challenged people that are convinced that wireless power is just around the corner. (FYI - it's not) As others have said even a slight gap between the charger and the phone greatly extends the charging time.

I'll be getting the iphone 8 because I've been in the Apple ecosystem since the 3g and I see no need to change. The Androids have a lot of advantages for those that care about hacking and that sort of thing, but for me that stuff is just boring. Wireless charging will be nice on my night table, but I can't see much use for it elsewhere.

Processing power has always shit all over samsung's phones. Even read an article yesterday that my Iphone 7 plus still beats out all other phones on the market for speed and processing power to date. Even android phones that are still coming out. Can your samsung record 4K @ 60fps?
