o_O What are you talking about? Android currently accounts for over over 80% of the OS market...

All I ever known has been apple products however, my iphone happened to completely give up on me at the worst time possible. Needed a phone so I ran to best buy always upgrade at best buy they really always have the best deals.

Anyways I now have a Galaxy S8 and man oh man this phone kicks ass at first it frustraded the sh** out of me but now I have the hang of it and love it. So freaking fast !!!!

As for the Qi charger yeah about that don't be all thrilled those who have tested our integraded charger can confirm it can be good and bad. Good for all who don't use cell cases or cases with minimum protection.Bad for all who like to put otterbox defender cases. Why: because all the extra layers of protection causes the phone to charge little to nothing at all it all depends on how the charger feels that particular day or if you figure a sweet spot
So it can be good and bad

Yeah, finding a good deal is key. I bought my iPhone 6 outright from apple but it's getting pretty pricey to do so now. At work we just got setup on a corporate plan and the first time joining incentives would reduce the price of a new iPhone by about half.

I don't even see the point of dropping $800-$1k on a cell phone. I only use my phone for calls, texts, using the flashlight and surfing the web. Its not like I need to render long videos or play the latest games with my phone.

Yep, wouldn't make sense for your usage.

As for alternate options -- note that Apple does now sell refurb phones themselves with same warranty as new: https://www.apple.com/shop/browse/home/specialdeals/iphone

Having bought refurb computers and ipads from them in the past, I can say the only differences from brand new have been the box they came in and the price I paid.

I'm starting to get to that mindset also. As I've gotten older, my desire to drop large sums of money on a new phone have plummeted over the last couple of years.

I used to always want the bleeding edge phone, but recently, I just don't really care anymore.

That alone tells you Apple is better, what more words of wisdom do you need? :D

I spent $1200 on a top of the line phone because i do use mine for work. Hell, im editing a video entirely on my phone for a company to display at their booth this weekend at the sand sport show. Purely because this phone handles video editing better than my $700 lenovo laptop! I probably use more video recorded from my iphone stabilized at 4K than i do with my Pro Canon DSLR! hahah it really is amazing what these phones can do nowadays if you have the know how.

My first smart phone was a t-moblie side kick (if you consider that a smart phone). Then i got a G1 the first google phone, and thought it was way badass.. Then my friend found an iphone 1 on the indiana jones ride at disneyland and had me hack and unlock it for him to use as an ipod. The touch screen and everything was leaps and bounds in better quality than the cheap plastic G1. Since then samsung and others have caught up, but i feel no one still comes close to the quality and craftmanship that comes with an apple product. I just wish i could afford a new iMac to do all my video/photo editing on.

What matters imo is related to context. If everyone in my group of friends has an iPhone and I'm the "odd man out" in group texts then maybe that's a consideration for a swap to iPhone. It doesn't matter how many people use android globally if that is my concern.

"the majority of folks jumping to apple" - I took that to be the context of his day to day life (ie. most of the people I interact with have an iPhone). and not a comment on the global statistics on iOS vs Android.

I've always been this way, just seems like they keep adding gimmicks to the phone to give people a reason to upgrade. Could careless about FaceID or fingerprint scanners or emojis, I just use a dumb pattern to unlock my phone and emojis are just stupid. The giant screen is cool but it ain't $1k cool. I especially won't get latest high end phones now that Verizon stopped subsidizing the price. My phone at the time retailed for $600 but I got it for $150, no way will I spend over $300.

Oh no doubt there. I feel my Google Pixel comes pretty close, but my iPhones always had the best quality and feel.

That was the first phone I remotely considered switching to from an Iphone since I made the jump to apple in 2008.

Haha yeah once upon a time. Google and Samsung have more than caught up though. Apple the one playing catch up now days.

The only leg they still have to stand on is optimization via in house OS and processor. Besides that the competition is as good or superior across the board. This coming from an Apple fanboy of old.

I do hope Google continues to improve the Pixel line. I think it could easily become the best phone on the market but you have to give them time to catch up on the hardware side.

I've had an iPhone for 10 years. I stopped using iTunes 9 years ago. You really don't need it. Plus iTunes on a Mac is pretty good. It only sucks on Windows (which sucks in its own right).
