iPhone ?

My contract will soon expire and I am thinking about upgrading to the i4. I want to keep my 3g phone (every time I got a new phone I sold the old one on eBay). Will it still work on my wifi @ home? Just want to use it as an extra PC for like listening to music and surfing. Just interested in using the apps and safari. Or does AT&T murder it somehow so I can no longer use the wifi part once the sim card has been removed?

 

Recommend you wait. Next Tuesday Verizon will announce it will start carrying the iPhone. This will likely create some great competitive upgrade options for both existing AT&T and new Verizon customers.

 

Your 3g will still work the same with wifi. Where is says AT&T it will say no service. as in no 3g or cell service. All your apps will stay and work.

 

I just checked on my i phone 3G andthe wi fi does still work even though the service is shut off

We setup my wife's old 3G for my daughter as an iPod. She loves it! We set it to Airplane Mode so she won't try to make any calls (emergency calls still work with no sim card).

 

I did the same thing. Went with Iphone4 and kept my 3g for use like an Ipod touch. Plus I can let my kids use it. I was surprised everything stayed the same on on it, even still gets my email! Good luck, Iphone4 is sweet.

 

I have a 3G and a 3Gs, use both to make calls and do internet stuff but Im sure your old 3G will still do everything but make calls.

haha but if i wasnt so impatient i probably would have gotten the iphone for verizon when it comes out

but like everyone said, it will still work, the wifi shouldnt have anything to do with the cell phone service, it will pretty much be an ipod touch

I have a whole stack of old iPhones from me and my dad and my friends who think I'm some sort of iPhone fixing god. I use them for all sorts of stuff it becomes an iPod touch basically.

 

I m just jack that now I can have all my stuff from my puter available
