I have a Pioneer head unit and I am having issues with the ipod connection cutting out when going over rough railroad tracks and hitting potholes. I don't know if this is a loose connection or what. Maybe it's a shitty HU. Anyone else have this problem before and wanna share their experiences before I start taking crap apart?

That's what I'm thinking as well, I may need to buy a new USB cable and plug it into the back. I'm probably going to ditch this HU anyways and get an older Pioneer HU like I used to have, I don't really like this one for my needs. My old unit spoiled me by having a dedicated shuffle song button and 7 band EQ. This one has a dumb "mix" button that makes the colors go all flashy and shit, and a 6 band EQ.

Definitely a bad connection by the description. I'd look at the cable, particularly at the iPod end. If you have the older 30 pin connector, it can get touchy with age. Also, check to make sure the USB end is seated properly.

No mud flaps, plasti dipped emblems, and rear bumper, Weather tech digital fit, Bed mat from tractor supply. Pioneer 4400BH head unit. B.A.M.F bed rail tie downs. AVS vent visors.
    i think it’s a connection issue.

I have the 4500 i think, i have the ipod plug ran into the center console, and every now and than i have them problem. Mostly just when off roading or “pre running” up logging roads at 15-20mph. if i stop unplug the ipod at the connection in center console and plug it back in it works just fine.

X3 on the bad connection. Same thing has been happening to mine, so I just listen to the radio instead of jacking with it. haha

Also, not sure where you are putting the iPod but you want to secure it somehow. Too much space, like in the glove box, will allow it to bang around and partially unseat the 30pin connector.

I think it had something to do with the USB connection being directly on the head unit itself. I just bought an older HU and put it in and it has a USB connection in the form of a cord hanging out of the back of the HU, probably a little more vibration resistant. Other HU is now for sale.
