This ain't my first 1st Toyota this is about my 8th or ninth. I have a 2011 Tacoma I bought new in 2010 and having a bit of a problem with using my iPod touch Generation 4 with the stock stereo system. I am plugging directly into the auxiliary input jack but the volume is limited.

I used this same iPod in my 1997 FZJ-80 with an after market input and had phenomenal sound. I have since replaced my aged stock Land Cruiser stereo with an Alpine head unit making even better sound with Polk Speakers. So I know it's not the iPod.

With the Tacoma I purchased an aftermarket wiring interface kit in 2011 and it too had the same results. Any suggestions or ideas. I do not have a JBL system or at least not according to my VIN.

    Frustrated

    Too few to list.
I have a 2011 and have no problems with using the aux with an ipod. Try a different ipod and see if anything changes. I do have the JBL though I don't think it makes a different with the aux input or output.

Define what you mean by aftermarket wiring interface kit?

sorry for the delay...a kit made by iSimple vehicle adapter for iPod. that worked fine in my daughters Yaris. I have tried other iPods and MP3 players with the same results.

If you are using the headphone out jack on the ipod touch, you have to turn the volume up to about 3/4 on the ipod. This is assuming you are going from the ipod touch to the AUX in on the trucks factory input.

iSimple makes a few different units for the Tacoma. Non work with the JBL, but you said you didn't have it. Do you have subwoofer in the rear passenger compartment?

If you are using the factory AUX in (which is down under the AC controls) you have to make sure you plug in the cord all the way in. It can feel seated, but sometimes its not plugged in all the way. Its kind of awkward plugging things in with the little door. Just make sure the iPod is plugged in all the way.

Yea, sounds like its not being plugged in all the way. Or theirs a problem with the input jack

Does the iTouch have volume limit controls (settings menu)? My iPhone does. Could you have the volume limited?

Thanks for all the input on this I truly appreciate it, I took it to the dealer and the input jack on the auxiliary input was bad and had it replaced.

    Thanks

    to you all
