Yes and no. There's really no difference in what's flowing into Iraq. The savings is the money that's no longer flowing into future medical care for wounded soldiers, destroyed or expended equipment, travel and logistics costs.

So yes, the burden has been eased. Congratulations. So we racked up a multi-trillion dollar credit card debt, recently stopped racking up additional debt, and people are somehow finding a way to celebrate this. Nah, you're gonna have to start paying that shit *back* before I get impressed.

One of the few things Rumsfeld got right was that the future military of the US needs to focus on high-mobility, flexible forces composed mainly of smaller, extremely well-equipped, extremely well-trained units. More or less more special operations and less of the WWII-Era tank divisions. I'm looking forward to seeing how the military implements it. It could free up massive amounts of dollars to work on problems here at home while leaving the military no less effective. Intriguing for sure.

Dude I agree with you but your definition of war and mine are completely different. And as far as I recall soldiers still recieve a paycheck.

Exactly. When our involvement in Iraq is no longer costing us money - then it's over.

I agree our involvement is still high but I like to stick to dictionary definitions.

Never happen, there are too many religious, economic, and ethnic differences that they will never unite...(T.E Lawerence)

Why do you think Palestinien refugees live in refugee camps in bordering countries? Those countries dont want them either. They could just let them live as civilians. Iran is full of Persians, historicaly they are not welcome in Arabian countries.

No, it shouldn't. But contrary to popular belief small yield nukes only effect relatively small areas. We're talking square miles.....not huge areas.

Because in practical reality, doublespeak is the real language. You need to know what people are actually saying, not what the definitions of their words are:

I think the whole thing has been created to drive fuel prices up for this summer.

Gas is going up cuz we imported too much oil in the fall creating a surplus, so the oil companies incraesed refining oil into fuel during the winter and fuel has been the US #1 export creating a shortage domesticaly. Bullshit

Even if we drilled more oil offshore and domesticaly oil companies would have just sold it to China. Iran has very little to do with the cost. Wall Street speculators have a lot to play in as well. But it's more than Iran being stupid.

    x2.

There are a lot of factors at play. The two most disruptive will be financial speculation on oil futures and the BRIC countries continuing to develop and have greater and greater cheap energy needs. BRIC development will also be the most consistent pressure over the next 25+ years.

The fact that gasoline sales are essentially monopolized in the US doesn't help much either.
