I'm gonna check mine too. I'll most likely drop it. Probably gonna have to do some trimming if I do with my 285s.

That’s exactly what I did too… iirc you can’t even get the leaves detached without doing that because of the gas tank and the bolt/nut config.

Definitely install them. I didn’t for the same reason as you (also the printed sheet said they were for the Lexus). Later I asked them if they were added to my kit by accident. They told me they were necessary to keep the bar from hitting the much-larger-diameter new shocks. Sure enough, I checked and it was tight up against my shock on one side and 1/32” gap on the other side. I put the spacers in and now a have enough space… it mounts the bar just a bit more forward as well as down. luckily there was no damage to anything.
I suspect the printed instructions are from when before they started doing Tacoma lifts in the USA.

Oh yea, just as a heads up, check the bolt on the drivers side leaf ?retainer? I’m not sure that movement/flexing made mine touch/dig into the gas skid or if the dealer did it when dropping the tank for the fuel pump recall. I’ll have to look and see if I have a pic in a little bit to post.

I ended up putting some washers under the bolt head to move the end of the bolt away front the tank/skid

Thanks for the heads up Eric! I’ll have to check mine later.

Ended up taking the truck out today. Drove around a teeny little loop trail for about 10-15 minutes. A fairly smooth gravel road in and then a little twisty dirt track in a little wooded area. No massive ruts or potholes, but I’d say comparable to a nicer forest service road.

The ride is a million times better than before. I only got up to about 17mph since the trail was really tiny with lots of turns, but with the stock suspension I probably would have taken this trail at a max of 10 or 12mph and still would’ve been bouncing around. I think a comfortable speed (w/ stock) would have been like…5-7mph. So cruising through at 15mph is a huge improvement! I wish the trail had been longer with more straight (or straighter) areas so I could see how fast I could comfortably go. Definitely a great little test run :yay:

    A wee bit of mud!

Auto skills shop on the airforce side at McCord. I'll be doing it 12th of February and maybe the 13th if I can't knock it out in a day. I don't see why I can't. I'll be there 0700ish. The shop opens at 0800 but it's first come first serve. If you need a address or something pm me. Help is much appreciated. I've watched the install video 100x but I still just want to get time on it.

You should turn that bolt around so the head is on the inside of the leaf pack near the gas tank and the threads are facing outward. All the bolts on the drivers side spring retainers should be facing outward to avoid possible interference. Pretty quick to do without jacking up the truck too.

I think I tried that before I put the washers behind the bolt head. I just was not able to get the bolt in the other way.

Checked mine today. 2.5" on the money. No idea how much I gained because I never measured the stock height. But all seems well on my end, I'm not gonna change anything. I suspect if I do drop it down I'll need a CMC with my 285's because right now, I am barely clearing at full load and wheels locked. I mean mm's lol. I do suspect if I was into going over some more serious trails that I would need a CMC, but for my trail usage, not likely. Won't know until the 10 foot snow berms clear so we can get in the trails lol. Also good to note that I clear in reverse at full lock too, but have not tested that on anything other than flat ground.

I do suspect that I'm over 2.75" of lift probably closer to 3". Seems like most people who get 2-2.5" setup have a lot of trimming to do with 285's and I am just barely clearing with that extra height. Also at 285/70 currently, so that helps. If I go up to 75 I might scale back the wideness to 275. Who knows, I got plenty of time to figure that out.

Last week went into Portland for an appt. New legs for the Taco. Stage 2 Foam Cell Performance 2” lift.
Did not measure prior so my measurements now would have to be compared to someone else’s or the dealer down the hill.
Got a 270 degree awning, mounted that up yesterday.
Haven’t gotten much off-road but did have some time up at the Summit at Snoqualmie parking lot (pot hole laden dirt), and the ride was night and day. Love the feel on road as well as off.
Have a topper which does put weight on the rear. It leveled out how the truck sits as well as adding height. Haven’t changed the wheel/tire from stock size, not sure I will for a while.

Curious, did you go to Ironman for the install? If so, do you mind saying how much did you end up paying for install?

I did, purchased it from them over the phone to be held at their warehouse. It was just over 1k for the install. I purchased a set of lights on checkout so I'd have to take a look to quote the exact amount but it was close to $1100.

They were really awesome, very informative and good hosts. I was working remote out of their lobby the entire time.

Iron man shipped me a set of replacement front shocks since mine came with a ton of cosmetic damage. I also spoke with someone via email on the correct spring bucket height and he said the pdf I had found in Tacoma world has never crossed his eyes before.

    From Ironman 4x4 USA

“set the coilovers at 8-7/8 driver side and 8-5/8 passenger side.”

that’s with the TOY065C springs. So I’ll be going with this setting and adjust.
