Ironman 4x4 Foam Cell Pro

Aside from the screwed up bolts, these seem to be a pretty good setup.

 

Had nothing but love for it until I saw it almost put a hole in my fuel tank.

 

Might be a good reason to avoid it. Have they responded to concerns?

 

Couple posts above. Just hit them up this morning. Waiting for a "real" response.

I really hope they make it right and don't try and brush us off.

 

If they are put together in Australia maybe they are confused about the D/S, N/S being different lol but not really a lol type of thing.

Passenger side bolts are facing out. I guess your theory could still hold water if they assemble driver/passenger separately.... Maybe one person just put a whole slew of them together incorrectly.

 

If have you check my passenger side to see but it might be the same as yours. .

If I remember right, when I first saw it, I went and made sure I installed them on the correct sides.

 

Does anyone know how thick the plastic is on the fuel tank?

 

I don't... But I'm wondering the same thing because I lost a good chunk on mine.

 

This thread provides some reassurance as mine ain't quite *that* bad... but it's pretty damn close and the replies are all unanimous: Replace the tank ASAP.

I just contacted two nearby Toyota dealerships requesting written quotes on fuel tank replacement.

Not really a like, but glad you caught it when you did. I remembered reading about it and saw I had asked it in another thread. Yeah, clear written directions that are easy to find on the website wound be reeaaal nice to have.

 

@gefitnib I just went back and looked at your initial post more closely- how and where did you find that install PDF? And @hyrule_trd can you throw that in the mega-thread?

Yeah after seeing this, I’m going with another kit. Lack of a response to an issue like this rules them out completely. Hope you all get it sorted and get your tanks replaced.

 

Can't say I blame you... but I will say: In my mind there hasn't yet been a lack of response. If they dick me around come Monday I'll be singing a different tune.

 

Completely understandable. From the thread I posted a few up someone mentioned Icon warning about it. I took a look at the instal instructions to see-
10. Before lifting the RXT spring pack into place, loosely install the shackle on the spring with the factory bolt and nut. Ensure that the bolt is facing away from the fuel tank. The head of the bolt should be closest to the frame and the nut furthest away, failure to mount in this orientation will cause fuel tank gouging.

 

Need a sitrep from @Montana_Actual on whether or not he's a member of Team GFT (Gouged Fuel Tank)

 

Is the complaint here that Ironman didn't prevent you from installing the bolt backwards and it gouged your gas tank?
