A truck should have some rake (or rear air bags) and the 1.5" you arrived at is about right. Maybe not quite enough rake. Why? So the truck bed can be used to haul things without the headlights blinding oncoming traffic or looking like a tool with the rear stitting on the bumps. People who want a level truck should just stop playing vehicle dress up and buy a Prius already :)

Didja get the hangers in yet? I've been daydreaming about doing them too and curious to hear about the install and if the leafs will rub the inside. I think I'd read up on Archive (rubs) but not BAMF yet. And of course, how the truck feels afterwards.

Got them in the other day! I kept the stock shackles though. From what I could tell, it would take a lot or articulation for the leaf to rub on the shackle but they are definitely close. I opted to not cut the leaf at this time. In the future I might but the hd shackles but getting them now was over budget.

The removal of those stupid rivers was terrible. Took all of about 6 hours to get them out, the about 1.5 hours to get the new hangers in. I had a angle grinder, bearing press and drill with colbalt bits…
If you have or know someone with a plasma cutter, that seems to be the easiest way to get them out.
this was probably the worse thing I’ve done on the truck lol. And I’ve messed with the seat upholstery to add heated seat elements. It could be that I’m old and not used to spending hours working like that.

The ride feels better, but I’ve not driven at higher speeds that usually showed the shudder but will in a few days. The back does feel more stable and less… bouncy maybe. Going over speed bumps and things feels different now. Would I do it again… yes… would I try and find someone close and willing to do it for a few hundred.. probably

Lord! That's a while. I'd heard it's a bear, but I didn't realize it was -that- bad. I think I'll take my time making the day dream a reality

If it helps, if didn’t feel like it was that long while doing it. I also stopped to eat lunch and help my kid with a few things.
I’m sure it’s well worth the trouble lol

Think the 3rd and/or 5th leafs are recommended to be removed from the heavy pack if you're not carrying any weight. The heavy pack as it is is way overkill for a stock truck... I'm about to install their heavy pack on my truck to replace the performance leafs + AAL but I have a ton of weight in the rear (steel bumper, 35" spare, diamondback, RTT, etc).

I've got 100+ additional lbs in the back and with 3 and 5 removed it's still stiff.

With wheelers off-road 20% off going on today, I’m really thinking about buying a set of king coil 650# springs to see how they do with the foam cells. I don’t need them… just curious to see if the ride could be better.
Looking at the Hilux vs Tacoma, the Hilux can be a few hundred pounds more than the taco and the IM kit was based on the Hilux. And for the fuel, diesel weighs about 1 pound more per gallon.

I believe they won’t fit due to the way the spring ends are.

You are correct. I did go order the king coils while they were on sale, so I thought I’d give it a go.

My plan is to get a metal shop (or buy taco lean spacers, I think they have a large enough inner diameter) and use that as spring perch. The spring perch is is free sitting on the two lock nuts so it “should” be ok.
If it does not work, I’ll just throw the 720s back on and sell the 650 kings. They usually seem to sell well here

Im planning on swapping the springs over on Friday. The spring seat I modified is not the best looking but it’ll do the trick. The spring, isolator and seat come in at 15.25” while the free heigh of the IM spring is 15.35”. So pretty close overall.
Unless I change my mind, I’ll be raising the spring seat up by about .25-.35” to account for the difference in height and the difference in spring rate. I don’t need or want 3 full inches of lift, looking for 2.0-2.5”. Keeping the pressure off the cv axles.

Hey folks. I've got a 2020 Pro. I've been looking to get a suspension upgrade due to all the armor and overland crap I've bolted on. The stock Fox suspension is starting to sag when I load my camping gear. Still performs great, but I'd like to make up for the additional load and grab an inch or two extra lift for the 33s I'm running.

Roughly estimating, I've got a 200lb tent on 50lb bars, ~100lbs of sliders, roof rack, 84lb front bumper, and 60lb winch. So, over 250lbs full time load over the rear and over 120 over the front. Not including camping and recovery gear loaded.
I see the "Heavy Duty" FCP kit says 110+ for front and 440+ for rear.
Additionally, I'd like to delete the front sway bar (at least until there's a good quick disconnect available). As I understand it, stiffer front springs help counteract body roll.

With these considerations, is there any reason I shouldn't get the "Heavy Duty" version of the kit? Are there better alternatives?

What springs are on your front coilovers and what leafs do you have in the rear?

After a search in this thread, @Adventuretaco13 removed his sway bar. I’ve got mine and will keep it. I worry about what happens if I’m in an accident and the insurance company uses it against me.

If you get the heavy duty leaf pack, you can always remove a few leafs and get the heigh/feel like you want without spending more.

For the fronts, I’d say start with the B springs. They are rated at 820# and should give you 2.5-3” lift. The C springs are a little shorter but say they are the same weight.
Or call and ask someone at Ironman their opinion. They’ve always seemed helpful. The kit while on sale is a great deal. Besides being a little too stiff for my liking no real other complaints that have not been addressed.
If you get the C springs then decide you want the B springs, I’ve got a set I can sell but shipping is probably a bit expensive.

After about 1.5 hours I got the springs swapped out! Bad news, I couldn’t break the lock nuts loose so the height isn’t where I want it.
Good news is I think it has more of a plush ride. I’ll know once my wife or kid rides withme. No noticeable dip or lean during turns.
Bad news, when I swapped the springs last time, I buggered up some of the bushings. I’ll get new ones to swap out soon. I need to pb blast the lock nuts to break them free. I don’t think wd40 will be enough.

Cool fact I learned today. The lock rings have a slot on them with an extra lock screw. On the seat portion of the nut. I’ll take a pick tomorrow when I pull mine apart again to try and raise the spring seat lock nuts.

Correct there is a set screw that goes from bottom to top and other set screws that go in towards the threads. I usually just leave one set screw in towards the threads only.

I do wish they had a 650 pound spring option for the toyotas.
