Ironman RTT

Anybody had any experience with this RTT? Looks like a decent tent and a good price.

Ironman's suspension is supposed to be top notch, but they only recently broke into the vehicle accessories market and many of their products are made by other suppliers. They state they have discerning quality for the stuff they put their name on, and considering the seem to want to go toe-to-toe with ARB they'd better, but the jury is definitely out.

I would suggest scanning the Land Cruiser, FJ or 4Runner forums, as those communities seem to have a bit more experience with Ironman's stuff, and there might be someone there who's had the tent.

 

Well I just pulled the trigger on one with the annex. Tent, Annex and a Fan/Light for $930 delivered. Figured it had to be worth that. I'm sure it might take a little longer than usual for delivery right now, but we will see how it looks in a few weeks.

 

Keep me posted. Looks like $719 shipped for their rtt. Can’t beat that.

 

Where did you see this price? Timing is everything with these tents. They can go up by a couple hundred overnight. I'm seeing $999 right now.

Thank you sir. I like the footprint of the 2/3 person tent but want the overhang. Seems like there's myriad of options but only a few sub $1000. The Tuff Stuff Ranger was 999 when I started looking but best price I see now is $1199 on Ebay. Anyway that tent seem identical to the Ironman RTT.

I'm not sure what you mean by overhang? Assuming this one will have the overhang when it is unfolded. I am likely going to install mine with the opening to the back of the truck--I think that will make it easier to find a level spot for set up plus it will provide a roof over the tailgate as well as access to the back of the truck/topper from the annex. Looks like, based on tracking, that it will be next week before I get it. Seems like the carrier lost it in transit but from what I just looked at I think they found it. Now if they can just get it to me.

Id be super interested to see the quality, not in the market at the moment but it looks like a great option at a lower cost.

 

I mean the u-shaped aluminum bar that that creates a 'canopy' that extends beyond the footprint of the sleeping area. This allows cover while climbing the ladder, and also allows the ladder to fit inside the annex. As opposed to something like the smittybilt standard which does not have this. Hope that better explains it.

I was just told by a representative on their website that the promo code does not apply to this item since its on sale. When I tried the code at checkout it did not work. Can anyone confirm whether they have had success with this code? Or have any others?

Ah--make sense now and I liked that as well. With all the others your ladder is literally outside so you can't even sit in the doorway to put on your shoes or anything if it's raining, etc.

 

Yeah tried online and when it didn't work, I tried the chat feature and "Bubba" informed me that the code doesn't apply and if it did in the past, it was in error. He said there were a few lucky ones (YOU!!!) that got it before they fixed it.

FWIW the customer service so far has been excellent and I get immediate responses to my inquires. I called the number and spoke to Bubba directly. Sounds like a well run company at least from this standpoint. I think I will be ordering mine this afternoon.

 

I spoke to Bubba as well. Maybe he's the only one or they all use "Bubba" when on the phone, lol. I had been looking for several weeks at new and used and when I came across this I figured I could get my money back if I didn't like it by selling it used. Still think $999 for tent and annex is a great deal. I guess he told you that shipping is free if you can ship it to a business that has a dock or forklift. If they ship it to your house it's like another $100 or something. I just called a buddy that has one at his business and am shipping it there.

 

Damn. Had it in my cart and ready to check out and decided not to. Thought discounts would get even steeper with everything going on. I was wrong LOL!
