Just signed up, trying to get some insight from you guys. Sorry if I make it long post, just want to cover all bases .2005 toyota tacoma 2.7 just put reman long block engine in last week , used most of my old part. Throttle body etc .Truck sat for 6 months waiting on motor But can’t get the idle right. Jumps around from 600 to 1100 rpms, also not getting the best mileage either .The throttle body butterfly was stuck when engine was installed but freed up with oil cleaned throttle body and mass air flow senser . Did a hard rest on ecm several times and set throttle by cutting on ignition working gas petal several times as well. Is there air idle senser on a 05 can’t find a part number for it or location. And what about manifold air senser could that cause the problem or the just a bad throttle body not closing Anybody ever run across this issues? Don’t want to just throw parts at it

Is your PCV valve stuck? My trucks idle jumped around a lot and then upon cleaning the throttle body, MAF, and changing the PCV valve did it settle down and correctly idle.

Did you clean the MAF and throttlebody before you put them in the reman engine?

    Any codes?
2nd gens don't use a MAP sensor or Idle Air Control Valve.
What are your fuel trims at idle, driving, WOT?

Did you move the butterfly by hand, seeing it stuck? Or did you see it stuck in the throttle sweep it does for position? Reason I ask is being stuck, and freeing it may have broken a couple teeth on the plastic gears, leaving spots where the motor is searching for movement.

P0171 is Fuel System Too Lean (too much air/not enough fuel)
P0505 is Idle Control Malfunction (PCM is unable to control idle speed)

Seeing those 2 codes together I would really suspect a vacuum leak before anything else.
There's a vacuum hose on the back of the intake towards the firewall that's kind of a pain to get hooked back up, maybe it didn't get hooked up.

Figured out the idle issue it was a vacuum hose dry rotted.
