It's a bit heavy, but it's not going to kill you in South Texas.
If it were dipping into the 20s when you're starting up in the morning, I'd say dump it, but you'll be okay.

You are fine all oil ends up at 30 wt. and the lower number is just how fast it warms up to 30.

Have to disagree with you on this one. 0/20 is not 30 wt. you are half way right but not all oils are 30wt.

One number is your start up velocity(cold) and the other number is the running temp velocity. So a 10/30 will start at 10wt and when it warms up it will be at a 30wt.

He was referring to the difference between a 5w30 and a 10w30.

Hot weather, both are pretty much identical.
At low temps, the 5w30 is a bit lighter with a lower cold-flow point, but as I mentioned, in Houston it's not a big concern. It's Houston, not Grand Rapids.

Yea not saying nothing wrong with putting the 10-30 in it. Just that not all oils are 30wt. My truck takes 0-20 so not all tacos have 30w

He's got a 2011, so I'm pretty sure he's also spec'd for 5w20, but the 20wt spec is primarily for CAFE fuel standards.

    2011 2.7 takes 0w20.
    2011 4.0 takes 0w20, 5w20, or 5w30.

At least you get options with the v-6 oil! I'm stuck with 0-20 synthetic from factory so when my free oil changes are over I get to spend big bucks on oil.

    Costco man....

They occasionally run $10 instant rebates so 6 quarts of Mobil-1 is only $26.
Toyota OEM filters are $88 for 20 filters from Camelback or Titus-Will.

I bought a 5qt jug from walmart for my wife's cx-7 a few weeks ago for less than $25. Not too bad.
