I'm looking at a 2014 4x4 double cab with 150,000 miles I know that's a lot but I also know tacomas are very reliable trucks. Dealer wants $21,000 out the door after taxes and fees. Im trying to get him to do $20,000 but given the milage in a short period of time I'm not sure if maybe this is a bad purchase.

Price is high (to me) for a 25k/yr vehicle.

It mostlyly is a lot of highway miles, the easiest there are.

So not really questioning the future reliability, but the price they are trying to extract for it.

Talk to your credit union and ask what it's worth.

Talk to your insurance agent and ask what they'd payout on a total.

Somewhere in there is the number you could pay and have a fair deal.

Make an offer, leave your phone number, walk away.

I couldn’t find a used Tacoma at a price I would pay. So I bought new. Paid about $32K out the door in 2014 (TRD Sport).

I have 140K miles on my 2013 and it’s awesome, great shape.
Mechanically I would not be scared of 150K miles. Just change all the fluids when you get it.

High mileage in a short time is a good thing compared to high mileage over a longer time. Means the miles are most likely highway miles which are easy on the vehicle.

I agree with the other posts that $20 or $21k is a bit too high for that many miles. This is also assuming that the truck is in Excellent condition. It's rare to come across a 2nd hand truck that I find to actually meet Excellent condition when advertised as such. If you can afford to wait, I'm sure you'll come across a different sale that's better.

Depends on where you are and what the details/condition are, but around here that's a pretty damn good price. I wouldn't let the miles scare me. I just bought one with 190k cause I only had a $17k budget. Luckily it won't be driven much so I won't be racking up miles too quickly.

my 15 is at 51k, it had 48k when I bought it for 24.5k
My sons 15 has 110k I paid 20k before taxes so there is a comparison. Sales tax in Virginia is 4.15% I believe on vehicles.

My ‘09 was six years old and had had 27k on it when I bought it in ‘15 for $25k, so you’re looking at a 6 year old truck for $20k+ as well, but with way more miles for the price.

But to answer your question by itself, no those miles ain’t no thang, just not for that price. My truck has 154k on it now and I have complete confidence in it lasting many more years and miles.

that is way too much for that many miles. For the record, I paid 21k for mine and only had 70k miles.

OP needs to post his location. Options aren't listed, so I guessed, but in my area that would be a great price - 90712.

Demand for these trucks is CRAZY right now. The overlanding, 4x4, off road thing is getting really popular at the moment and it's driving prices up. I spent the last 6-12mo looking for a 4x4 DCLB. Originally I was thinking I could get something for $13-15k. 4x4 and long bed are rare here but DCSB are common, especially pre-runners. 4x4 demands a pretty good premium. This overall price premium is almost all of the west coast, although I was finding slightly better prices (and more long bed 4x4) in WA/OR when I was looking for mine.
