Is 150,000 miles too many for a 2014?

Most people on here go on about the resale value of these trucks until it’s time to buy one, then the price goes in the shitter!

Yes, Tacomas do high mileage well. I bought a new-to-me Gen 1 a couple of years ago with 166k, keeping it in favor of my former Gen 1 with 137k.

But that's a helluva lot of miles on a 2014, and there are things that are just flat gonna wear out irrespective of highway or not as the source of the miles. I'd probably pass on that one and keep hunting. There are trucks with half the mileage that aren't going to be priced that much more.

I missed your discussion of where you're located, op, but I wouldn't consider buying a truck in the midwest or east. BTDT as a child of the Rust Belt. (My first Gen 1 was from MO/IL, and I grew up with a 1980 pickup we owned for almost thirty years in OH.)

My 2003 (bought 2017) came from Colorado, and my 2015 (bought 2018) came from Southern California. Both of them are simply *perfect* underneath with respect to body and frame corrosion.

No chance I'd pay that. There’s a 2020 4x4 DCSB OR with 600 miles selling for 32500 on the TW marketplace. No logic is going to explain 150k miles, previous generation, 6 years old giving a $10-11k price drop.

I get resale is high, but there comes a point where spending 65-70% of the current model for a truck that has 30, maybe 50% of its life left without major repairs is a bad deal.

My 2011 has 95k. Got it for auction price in 2014 (or so) with ~30k miles on it.

If the truck looks solid and is what you want go for it.

I did the exact same thing. Test drove a few 10-14 w 40k in the $27-29k range and ended up going brand new in 2013 with a 14 mode for $32k out the door with 8 miles on the clock

I have 355k on my 2013 so 150k is nothing on that year taco
    As far as price
I would not sell my taco for a penny less than $15k with 355k (it's a stock 4x4 sr5 DCLB with tow package), so if I had only 150k miles on my 2013 I would sell it for at minimum $25k

If you can get the truck for $19-20k, you are doing good

Yes too many miles and to high $. (Both) Just bought my 2013 Pyrite Mica 2 months ago. 68K Miles. Base SR5 4 x 4 with lift, light bar, step rails etc...paid $17,500. 2 Owners & Private Sale. Drove 5 hours to pick it up and took 6 weeks of FB Market to find. But it was worth it. Your state may vary!

A 150,000 miles on a Tacoma isn't such a big deal. I wouldn't even consider purchasing a Chevy, Ford or Dodge truck with 150,000 miles.
But having said that, price seems a little high.

Mileage not a big deal, price is. I bought my 2010 SR5 4x4 AC with 78k miles and matching cap ( 1 older retired owner) for 14K. I looked hard and had 4 must haves, AC, Auto V6 and less than 100k miles. Good luck

Keep looking. I wouldn't drop 20K on a 6 year old vehicle with 150,000 miles. My 2012 only has 96K and I paid 26K for it new!

If I went to trade my 17 OR with 40k in right now I’d be lucky to get 28k from a dealer. No way would I buy a 6 year old truck that’s design was almost 10 years old when it was sold new with that kind of mileage for that price.

    $21000 for a truck with 150000 miles.
You should be able to answer that one yourself.
You could by a new one for around $30000 or less.
I know some people will tell you to go for it and think that is a good deal.
I would not give $8000 for anything with that kind of miles. I cant believe this is the new norm and this is how people think. More money than brains I guess with this I have to have it generation. Ill catch grief for saying this. Oh well bring it on.
