I have the mods in my sig and avg 16mpg and drive nearly 100miles a day for work. Is it my 285s? Or just normal? I'd like to at least get 1-2mpg more. I have new plugs, cleaned TB, and fresh oil...perplexed.

driving habits are the biggest, off the shelf mods wont help you MPG.

Those tires will definitely drop your mpgs. Are you also recalculating your mileage for the tire size difference?

tires arent helping any, you bought the wrong vehicle for a 100 miles a day commute.

The wider tires will drop the fuel economy a little bit but not as much as some people say. How you drive it has the biggest role in how much you burn. You should for the most part be able to keep it under 2000rpm and it will sip the gas (in comparison). Taking off hard from stops is bad, so is driving over the speed limit on the highway. I set my cruise control for 100km/h on the highway (just a **** hair over 60mph), sure my commute might take another minute or two, but you'd be surprised how much wasted fuel you burn when you go even 10 over the limit.

Fuel econ works on a bell curve, peaking right around 90km/h. Granted not every engine, transmission, and gearing are the same, but statistically, under and especially over 90km/h your mpg drop substantially.

Drive with a light foot. That's about all you can do with those mods. Nothing you add will help. You've got a good looking bad commuter vehicle.

    Agreed.
I am guessing you drive HWY speeds so if you slow down you will get at least a couple more miles per gallon. Keep the truck under 60MPH and stay away from heavy acceleration and that will help. 55 would be best.
The best option is a second vehicle that gets 40 plus MPG. It would pay for itself and keep all those miles off your truck.

If you're spending ~$300 a month on gas, I would absolutely get a used car with better gas mileage. A payment on that should be less than $300 and you get to keep your taco low on mileage!

I average in the 18s and i have the same set up, i also have a CAI and Catback exhaust. I have changed over to the E3 spark plugs and i can definitely say the truck sounds better and feels better, the oil i changed over to Mobil 1 0-20 full sinthetic.

I have a 2012 dclb stock tire and suspension and at very best I get 17mpg. I doubt there is anything you can do with that set up to get better then 16.

I have the same lift as you and same tire size but E rated Nitto Grapplers, and average 16-17 mpg, not odd at all. Truck is rated 16/21 from factory with 245/265's so I would say adding lift and tire size and still getting close aint bad.

I'm on 285s with a 3" lift and am getting about 16.5. I have an 8 mile commute though and it is mostly highway.
