    Hi Everyone,

This is my first post here and wanted to start out saying hi and I hope your day is going well. So here is my question , I am in the swing of buying or trying to purchase a 2003 Pre Runner Crew Cab TRD ED> Taco With 200,000 Miles.
It is customized nothing really stock. It has 33 inch toyos it has a custom black paint job custom leather seats , carpet , Headliner. I wanted a Bone Stock one But I was able to get it for 8000 and here in Louisiana they want a arm and a leg for these trucks more in the 10-11 Grand even with this kind of mileage. They wanted 9500 but cant afford to keep it and my only concern is it lasting me at least 3 years no major problems. I had a 2008 4X4 AND LOVED IT. BUT I WRECKED IT AND BOUGHT A HOUSE SO IM TRYING TO SAVE MONEY, (WIFE!!!!) loll Any ways the truck drove sound to me , No slack in steering , stoped well , sounded good, just looked like cosmetic wear , didn't see leaks and transmission seamed ok. I will drive it mabe 3 or 4 days a week about 60 mile round trip to work and back My wife and I work beside each other and car pool to just Save Money.
I mean what do you guys think out there on taking a chance? I guess I felt a lot better spending 8,ooo on a taco rather 15,000 on a GMC DODGE CHEVY with 100,000 miles . Any Advice I would like to hear what you guys think.

Thanks for you guys input really taking the time to read it . I could buy a newer one less miles but yea the budget man :mad:I guess I keep telling myself just a couple years ya know drive it little as possible and I figured why spend so much on it when I use it on the weekend more to go to deer stand and commute to work in it least as possible . I had a 4 runner that ran on 5 cylinders not 6 had 232,000 miles and its still on the road today I see it and I have no clue how many miles are on It now. but I keep being told its a Toyota and the other I here is 200,000 on any truck is worn out and I don't know which one to believe. But I also kept in mind even these trucks NOT running here are selling for retail prices at auction which make me want to buy one over anything else. I guess im taking a gamble , But I wish and hope the truck stays strong ugh MIXED EMOTIONS LOL

I have the money IM being a tight wad LOL I would rather spend the money on other stuff for my daughter and be fair to her. I feel like if I have another 450 dollar truck note its like ......WHY ? Why ? Why? I used to have a brand new 4x4 cummins and wish I never bought it ! hole lot more wasted money there then ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could buy a 2006 160,000 miles for 14,500 but that's 200 dollars more a month . I wouldn't think the 03 would cost that much repairs?

If you're trying to save money because you bought a house, and you have a 60 mile commute, maybe you should consider getting a fuel-efficient car instead of a truck.

At the end of the day if you will use and need a truck I feel like this should be a viable solution for you. you will run into repairs here and there but it seems to me any more that you're going t ospend less repairing a Taco than any of the electronics in a new vehicle...That being said I would take a long look and see if the truck is what you really need. I commute 100 miles daily in my Taco and while I love driving it my wallet cries every time I fill it up. Just my .02

That more or less what im hoping I just wanted to know if every one here could say if it wouldn't bee to expensive to fix it so happens to brake down and what the chances are something big will happen on these trucks. I mean I am paying cash almost for it I was thinking cheapest best option for what I need. Plus the money end with holding value . Im big on that
Plus I will be downsizing the tires !!!!!!!!

I would stay away and find something with less miles. I'm sure you can with your budget. No telling how hard that truck has been pushed its life.

All very nice trucks but the thing is I need a 4 door for daughter shes 5 and pretty tall I drive a lot off road. I will certainly take a look :D thanks for the idea Its just so hard to find the perfect truck exactly like this that don't cost 14,000 Cause that's how much they want most of the places for one with 150,000 miles 4 door round here its crazy n

New Navigation DVD/CD/TV/AV/Bluetooth Stereo and seat mod spacers, 1" hubcentric spacers, seat heaters....
Get it, they last a long time with proper maintenance...

Mine has 256,000, no leaks, no oil usage, runs like a top, fully expecting 400,000...

If you possess basic wrenching skills you can easily maintain it...

I also think it was garage kept for most of it's life. Never off road. He's selling it because he just bought a 2nd gen TSS. Dude is probably about 50 years old.

Homebrew bumpers and sliders, 5100s & Eibachs up front and mutt leaf pack out back, 285s & Wheelers type B, sway bar deleted. Wife's ride: 01 4Runner 4wd sport. Stock with exception of TRD taco coils, and shift kit.
8k sounds like a fair price. My biggest concern would be was the transmission ever serviced. If never it could be a ticking time bomb. Bought the wifes 4 runner with 167k and tranny went at just under 200k. I never changed the fluid and it was dirty when I got it. Otherwise just install an external tranny cooler and go. Currently her car doesn't use any oil and has 206ish I think. We're planning on at least another 100 maybe200k out of it.

As long as engine seems good and transmission hasn't done the (strawberry milk) shake I wouldn't be scared of it.

If you don't need a truck 3rd gen 4 runners are same drive train and cheaper yet.

Cody. Not sure if you got my PM's. Call 817 701 6428. The only thing I saw wrong was he slid out of the drivers seat and f' d up the edge of the upholstery on the seat.

Nice to see a fellow Louisianain here :) As for the truck, I would suggest finding something with less miles. I got mine for $6k with 155k miles on it but it did need some repairs. I don't know if you live near Metairie, but I saw two at a dealer for sale. I believe it's Best Chevrolet's used car lot. I would do some searching on Cars.com. Should be able to find something there in the area
