I recently bought a red camper shell. I would like to paint it to match my 202 gloss black paint. Would I be ok with going with a off brand gloss black paint for advanced auto/oreillys/etc? Or do I need to pay the much higher price for paint thats meant to match 202 gloss black?

I painted a fellow member's cap for him. It was red and he wanted it color matched to black. I picked up PPG single stage sealer and paint (a quart of each) for about $275.00 last year. That included miscellaneous things like tape, water traps, mask filters, etc... The paint supply shop commented 202 has a touch of blue in it. You can try to paint it with a straight off the shelf black and see how it goes. The only downside is if you want to color match it again, you may need to strip off the generic black if it's incompatible with the auto paint.

I had mine done by an auto body shop. $400. It was worth the piece of mind I wouldn’t screw it up.
