I’m one of those who, in 2017, searched high and low for a 2015 DCSB OR. Found it. It’s just a second vehicle for me since I also have a 2017 4Runner Premium. My Tacoma has 82k on it and I have no interest in selling it. Guessing there are lots of us.

Don't drive it in the winter, have a convertible for the summer so it sits in the garage most of the time.

Oh, I wasn't always fixing it. I only had one diesel that needed a ton of work and it was only because it sat in a barn for 20 years. By a ton of work it was just popping the injection pump covers and lubricating the delivery valves. Fresh oil and fluids, new updated glow plugs and she came to life on the first crank. The only other reliable vehicle out there its the W123 series Mercedes diesels next to Toyota.

I keep looking at low mile GX470s though and think about selling it and my Honda. Don't really need a pickup any more and I have a 8x12 tilt trailer already.

Check the frame good. Those GXs are notorious for rust

Overvalued? Maybe slightly. I certainly didn't expect it to appreciate in value when I bought it.

I have a 15' SR5 that I bought "used" in 15' with 4k. During covid Carvana had it valued at 29k, they sent me an email last week saying it was worth 17.9ko_O Have 73k on it now,and would take an act of god for me to sell it.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
I’m also not taking a new 2024 truck (60G for off-road incl tax in Canada) into the bush, pinstripes, dents way too painful.
Lots of 2 Gen with 150 to 200k miles totally reliable still

went back and forth on selling mine a couple years ago because i know i'd have to upgrade to a full-size eventually (2 growing boys, 100th percentile height each)

thankfully i have a height-challenged wife so i was able to make it work.

but eventually the full-size will happen, and i doubt i'll sell it even then. Just hold onto it and let my eldest drive it to school when he's ready.

these trucks last and they are bullet proof, so why sell if you dont have to? that's why they go for a premium, even accounting for inflation, etc

Things will never get as cheap as you would expect them to be. This is the financial reality in 2024. Get used to it.

That's a good point. Relative to other vehicles it's not overvalued. It's just that everything is overpriced right now.

I paid cash for my 2009 2TRFE SR5 access cab 5-speed in Nov 2008...$25,000! Hard to believe you could get away with that just 15 years ago...she has 160k now and I'll ride this bitch into the ground looking at current pricing...
