Is 32 psi good to run in stock highway tires in my SR?

Are you serious? So you’re running over 40 lbs?

I have 265/70 16 tires on my tacoma now. Found running them at the recommended 32 psi on the door jam works fine. I have no clue why some need to run E rated tires at high psi on these mid size trucks when on the highway. The ride quality has to be brutal.

Your door placard only applies to a P245/75/16/109SL...
What exact tire did you replace them with? If you replaced them a LT265/70/16, your adjusted recommended psi would be 39.
What do consider high psi for a load E?

Remember that the tire pressure on the door is the pressure when the tires are cold. If you check them when they're hot it's expected for them to be a few psi above the cold tire spec.

    75% of 44 (oem p245/75/16 max) is 33.

    so, it math's out.

30-32psi here, depending on the weather. And that's with upsized tires.

Those tires are goodyear adventure's. I originally got for my gen1 tundra. Their very close to the 245 75 16's that came on the truck. They were recommended for around 30 psi for the tundra. They seem fine at 32 psi on the tacoma. Their wearing perfect.

Adventure Kevlar; the same thing that comes OEM on Offroads?
    I wouldn't say their close...
The stock tire is a P-metric P245/75/16/109 SL.
Your replacement tire is a euro-metric 265/70/16/112 SL.
31 psi would be your adjusted recommended psi. At 32 psi, you're within tolerances of most TPMS or a good pressure gauge.
I'm posting this to explain the how/why you are correct; just not for the reasons you describe. It's not meant as a 'gotcha' post.

It is totally acceptable to run higher psi than the door sticker. The reason the ride is so twitchy on Tacomas is the flimsy stock rear shackle hangers are trash, they are like another spring and destroy the rear ride quality.
Install Archive's Hammer hangers, run higher tire pressures, save fuel, pay for the Hammer hangers. Enjoy the ride every mile on and off road.

On my family RX330, I run ~38 psi cold in the 225/65-17 Toyo AT3s. They were wearing worse on the outside edges at 32 psi. On a highway trip to Florida, they got up to 42psi hot. The tire is rated at 44psi max cold inflation. Tires have only worn about 1/32 in 7,000 miles!

I run 35 psi. 32 is for a soft ride...and less gas mileage...and probably higher tire wear.

For comparisons sake, all these numbers really don't mean much without context; your tire's size/load rating and vehicle's laden weight. It means a little bit to those who still have the OEM spec tire, but lacks the laden weight.

I myself have an aftermarket rear anti sway bar and run 40 psi fronts and 37 rear. Works great for me and I get 25mpg avg.
    I'm on stock 265/65/17

Mine are 30-31 that is what shows on the dash. The pressure changes a bit when moving something to do with the temp of the tires.

I guess the adventure a/t goodyears are all the same...bought them from a snowmobile friend i often ride with thats a salesman at a local goodyear dealer. Well, the tire's perform well enough for me, as i've owned many kinds over the years. Imo, they work way better on this tacoma than on my old gen1 tundra. They wear better, get good traction, and get far better fuel economy, but thats the truck getting better mpg.

If i ever did that on my sr5 i'd be bouncing all over the highway, and likely needing new fillings. I can't believe those 17'' tires would be that much different.

Yes, stock Prerunner Sport tires and rims.
I came from a 2005 Tacoma Sport also and I ran 38 psi normally through 15 years and 130k miles

I would think that'd be hard on your chassis, and steering components over time. I can tell you if i put that psi in my tires i'd have one unhappy truck.
