It just seems wierd to me to buy a truck that isn't a 4x4. So I got it, but probably won't use it. Even up at the mountains I can just get tire chains if I had a 2x4. But who knows? I tell myself that I'll go off road in it one day, but I certainly don't want to do it in my new black 40k truck that I polish and wax and kiss goodnight to lol. Off roading is inherently dangerous, esp for beginners who know nothing about it...I'd want something cheap to destroy before putting my baby at risk. But that's just me.

Yup, actually I was up in Big Bear a couple years ago when they were hit by the biggest snow storm they'd seen in 10 years and I saw tons of stuck 4x4s...lots of people get over confident with 4wd

Ha!!! I’ve seen your truck if you are still in murrieta. Not often you see a long bed.

In Winnipeg? Haha I bet it has!! I grew up in Brandon and worked in Portage. Manitoba highways and roads are horrendously dangerous.

4wd is like a condom or handgun, it sure is nice to have it available when you need it.

4X4 is the only way to go. When you need it you’ll wish you have it. Pickups are light in the backend, front wheel drive cars can go places a 2X can’t go.

Every time I see a thread like this I wonder if OP is familiar with 4lo... It's fuckn amazing bud.

On the other hand, 2WD gets 40+mpg so that's nice.

Life is too short to not get what you want (if you can afford to). Get what you want, BE HAPPY.

A few vehicles back, I made that same mistake.

Got a truck with all the bells and whistles, except 4x4. Leather seats with accent pipping. Heated/cooled seats. Premium sound system with subwoofer and Nav. Sunroof. Appearance package. Etc.

Found every reason in the book to justify not getting 4x4. After about 3 month of ownership, I realized the huge mistake I had made. None of those other options relieved the fact that I had neglected the main reason to get a truck.

I ended up selling the truck shortly.

4x4 is the number ONE option to get for a truck, IMHO.

Definity didnt make the same mistake with the Taco. I absolutely LOVE this truck.

90% of guys don't need 4x4 but claim they do. Your truck looks great and I'm sure you don't get stuck on a monthly schedule ?
Back in high school I skied every weekend and my dad had a 2 wheel pickup truck I borrowed. I never got stuck going up some pretty ugly mountain snow covered roads. A little clearance and a pick-up will go further than ya think.

You can't even buy a 4x2 Tacoma double cab in Canada as Toyota doesn't even offer it. Only 4x2 is the very base model access cab.

    I did the same thing.
I got a '17 sport and 2 months later traded up for the '18 4x4 OR.
I got a great deal and my payment only went up like $60 because the amazing trade value and a better interest rate.

You don't really need a 4x4 in California, look at all the 4x4 guys that are mallcrawlers, lots of people never use the 4x4 on their trucks.Be happy with what you have, you can put a locker on your truck and go 95% of the places a 4x4 will go.
