I think the biggest problem is the uncertainty of not knowing whether or not I'll end up with a drop bracket kit and 35's. Which I doubt tbh.

So, I actually feel like my truck runs better with weight on the highway than it does without (31.6 and 4.88s). I have a topper and sliders, nothing too significant. When the truck bed is empty and I'm going up an incline it's reluctant to hold the 65-70 mpg range. When the bed is loaded down the truck holds the higher rpms better and I've got a bit more consistency in throttle control.

Right. Well, I don't know you, but, I bet you'll at least go 33. Once those gears start working in the brain there's no stopping them :D

If you're moving to at least a 285 in any size, go 5.29.

I appreciate the recommendation, but I already paid for the OVTune software. Im just gonna install the 4.88 perfomance tune after breaking them in

I have duratracs 285s, they’re measuring at 33.6” but are halfway through their life but I plan to run these tires again.
    Arb bumper
    Winch
    OME lift
    Bunch of lights
Steel Smart cap in the bed
and some recovery gear and such.
    Compressor.

I also live in CO and have a MANUAL transmission.
Definitely thinking I’ll go with 5.29s

    such a highly debated topic!

Have a look at your door jam numbers. Common V6 is 3.91 pretty big jump to 5.29

"Is 5.29 gears too much?" Yes it's too good. Makes the truck feel like it has some power

It’s referenced in my thread that’s linked here in post 2. 5th and 6th have the same drive ratios, dang near identical. However gears 1-4 won’t be the same

I own one (2011), both 5th and 6th are overdrive. Yes there is a noticeable difference watch your tack it will tell you.
Nothing is free, how much did that setup cost you?
