I did 5.29’s on my 04 it’s what the math said to do. But it had weight in the back 9” of lift and on 35’s and man did it ride beautifully. I just want to have that experience again but won’t be beating on this truck like I did that one or be loading down near as much. Only pic I can find.

    There you go again.

Now go back to some social media page, where you get your likes and shares.

I asked a question and you aren't going to answer it. So why are you talking, kid?

I gave you the answer. The only kid here is the one wanting to be spoon fed. Your loss.

Happy to help you understand how the calculator works.

Its worth noting that 4.88 is more than what the math said to do to get me back to the stock 245's with my tire increase to 265's

a comparable low 4's 4.08 or something like that (i cant find my hand written calculation sheet). This was of course just a baseline since i wanted the truck to be geared better than stock. There might be a chance ill go with taller skinny tires but right now the 265 seem like where ill stay for the foreseeable future.

The increase is linear in any gear. No exponents in your drivetrain

    You’re right 4.88 is a little
More than the math equates too. I may go little bigger tires too in the future. I keep feeling like if I don’t go 5.29 I’d wish I had.

There is a guy on youtube showing driving RPMs with 265's with 5.29 gears. Maybe that can help you make the decision.

Yeah I saw that one. I’m in no hurry. I’ll see how your 4.88’s treat you. Hope they do great

I was debating 5.29’s or 4.88’s. I Did lot of research talked to gear companies. Very helpful info. Every rig will be different as far as weight etc. I’m not heavy. 4.88’s have been excellent. Rpm’s at 70 are 2. I am tuned as well. If I was planning 35’s and adding lots of weight 5.29’s.
    Good luck

Good to hear. I take it it shifts good, Utilizes all the tranny gears as it should and responsive coming from a stop much better than stock? Thanks for info

    Thank you.
But wouldn't the speedometer speed be exponential with the change in gearing (or Bigger tires)?
    I no math gud...

No, it wouldn't. The slope may change, but the function remains linear

No. The speed comes from the ABS sensors thus gearing has no impact on it. Tire size can impact speed but it’s also a linear percentage

That’s your insecurity talking….don’t let it get in your way of learning something, nothing I’ve said is “I told you so”.

Do you want to feel stock after all your upgrades? A lot of folks go deeper for the the extra torque

I think he needs to match his setup to what others have. Ive seen more people with my setup and a little more tire and weight happy with 4.88. You do provide a unique outlook since you have had both 4.88 and 5.29 but your truck is running 35's and weight from what i can tell.
