Hey guys, just curious. Would it be possible to build your own 6" lift for a 05'+ Taco? My father is very well versed in material/mechanical engineering as well as welding and we discussed this topic the other night. Your thoughts?

It would have to be a drop bracket lift. So you would need to fab up the brackets, new spindles, etc from scratch. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

Here are all the pieces you would have to fab:

it would be crazy insane and I dont know how you could get all the piece to exact spec, that would be a lot of work and time

If you're going to go through that kind of surgery and custom fabrication, I'd go for either long travel or a solid axle swap. You'll still have to buy some parts either way but for just a regular 6" drop bracket lift, it's a lot easier to buy the lift.

Yeah, I have been studying it all morning. I would be better off just buying the setup. Thank you all for your inputs, I appreciate it.

off topic but can you tell me how high you sit off the ground or even your center hub to fender measurments on your lift set up? You have 285s so I'd be more interested in your hub to fender.

I see you are set @.85 with the 885s on your billies. How is the ride and do you have a lot of lean? I was thinking of just doing that instead of getting spacers for both sides. Then maybe just adding a thin trim spacer to the driver.

Do you have rake or sitting level? looks nice:)

I am out of town right now, but when I get back I will get those measurements to you. I am actually sitting level with the Taco and no or very little lean at all. The rise is amazing so far and have it for nearly a year. I am however in the process off putting a 6" in in the very near future.

Ok cool..........ya get at me when you can with those measurements. Just curious. glad the ride is good too. I want to avoid a drop bracket lift but want as much lift as possible. So I was thinking on doing that same lift and also doing a 1" body lift some day to get 4" and avoid a DB.

    Thanks and truck looks nice.
