Is a manual Tacoma really “sought after”, rare or more valuable?

    Cool stuff
In Southern California , the MT off-road 4x4 is a gem , every dealership employee loses their shit when they find out my Tacoma is a MT 4x4. I paid more for it as people will travel out of state to get one .... ask me how I know

Manuals are really hard to come by right now in Socal, I went through this back in June 2020 and withing a 300 mile radius there was 4-6 daily and dropping down to 2-3 sometimes. I didnt end up with the color I set out to get but thats fine. It seems that they are just getting marked up due to high demand and limited amounts of Tacomas being produced in general.

Too funny, but you dont see a whole lot in Socal. Cant wait to see what the dealership does when I take mine in.

Me too. This would not be my choice of truck if an auto were the only option.

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
My thinking is that there would be a smaller size of people who are interested in a manual pickup truck. Most people I know who would always choose a manual for a sports car, would rather go with an automatic for a pickup truck. But those who want a manual pickup truck, would really want a manual pickup truck.

Same here. I was willing to take a longer wait for a manual. If the manual doesn't exist in the 3rd gen, I would be driving a 2012-2015 4.0 crew cab. If the next gen doesn't come with the manual, I am definitely keeping my 3rd gen long term.

The 4Runner not being offered with a manual made the choice between the 4Runner and the Tacoma easy for me. The other reason is that I would rather have a crew cab pickup than a SUV.

Only bad thing is they don’t make all configurations in a manual. I hate autos. I’ve never owned one. Swore I never would. But I have an auto Tacoma. Granted it has a tune so it seems like a manual.

Waited for a manual for a long, long time. Didn’t put a deposit down. Dragged my feet once it got to the dealership for 2 weeks. THEN decided to go get it.

Feel extremely lucky. But maybe no one else was looking at that dealership.
