Is a so called 3" lift refferring to the front lift?

Every "3 in." lift kit I've seen states you can get 3" of lift in the front and then gives rear options like 1.5" or 2" AAL. Am I right in saying the 3 inch lift means it's referring to front? Help a newbie out. Thanks.

 

ya thats generally right. 3" lift in front and 1.5-2" in the rear will make it about level. that would be called a 3" lift

 

I'd say that's a highly subjective statement

 

Especially in a truck that idnt designed for towing...that is highly objective
