So most SUVs that don’t have an electric parking brake have a foot pedal operated brake, you can’t use one of those, you would need a third leg or a very long penis.

More modern vehicles simply have an electronic actuating parking brake which the vehicle can engage for you if you try to open the door with the vehicle in drive or reverse so you don’t Chekov yourself.

64 years of driving never had one and 100% of the latterly dozens of cars/trucks I have owned did not have a hill hold. My self, foot off the clutch stick in neutral waiting.

Well certified dumbass checking in because the 4th gen is the first MT vehicle I have owned and the brake hold button has been a major help in effectively eliminating pretty much any roll back on hills for me. I don't need to practice my hill clutch control on my new bumper or the bumper of the car behind me in traffic.

Well, then all you can do is work on leg speed.

For those wondering why someone might find the feature useful, personally I use it in slow drive thru's. Same reason cruise control is there for long highway drives, your leg eventually gets tired from holding the pedal down for an extended period of time.

    I know what you mean.
I know a couple of guys that "thought" having a performance clutch would be a good idea.
I mean, it's supposed to be better, Right?

It's better at ONE thing. Everything else, it was "worse" at.

    I know what you meant..

I don't need brake hold. I can hold the brake with my foot. It does NOT bother me at all.. I have used for YEARS.

My truck has cruise control but I have not used it.

I don't want nanny crap in the truck such as BSM, Lane detector, etc. I can look back over my shoulder fine.

I use backup camera for the trailer hook ups.

Some like those features, some don't. I don't care what they have in their vehicle as long as they are happy with what they have. So I am happy with mine but I am not finished with adding mods to it. I am still working on a few more things before it gets completed.

If that's the case with last manual parking brake handle. It's "common sense," it's the driver's responsibility to learn how to operate their vehicles, before BAM! CRASH! Hit another vehicle. Not learn last minute crap.:p

I haven't tried it yet but don't have many hills where I live. Do you find it helps more on steep inclines than the hill start assist? If so is it because it gives you more time to engage the clutch? Just wondering if it works as a substitute for the old lever parking brake hill start method on a steep/slippery incline.

Haven't tried it on steep steep hills but on moderate grades it seems more helpful than the automatic 2 second hold. I find the later not really helpful as it disables as soon as you give gas and my clutch timing is not perfect yet.

The hold I find has been more reliable as it seems to hold until I start moving forward.

The only thing I am not clear on is if leaving the button on keeps it ready for when you stop again. The other day it seemed not to work but I had the button on from a previous start/stop so maybe you need to turn it off and on at each stop? This part I am still not sure.

The brake hold button is basically the hand brake in this vehicle given that the parking brake switch takes 2 seconds to engage and can only be disengaged by using the foot brake so it is useless for hill starts.

In my experience with other vehicles with this feature, the brake will engage every time you come to a stop. Having to press the button each time seems counterintuitive.

If the button is on, every time you stop and press the pedal enough, the brake hold will activate.
