No money, all went to truck...
If you want the truck really bad, get it. If not, wait for the 2024s.

Billionaires purchase it through a corporation and then write off the cost or just lease it or just have somebody else do it for them.

If you’re a kid in his 20s, unless you have $1 million in the bank, you’re gonna wish you had some of that $40,000 in the next few months or years.

If you plan on getting married, you have unexpected medical costs, or you may want to have a nice place to live.

I can promise you most people can’t afford a house for $1 million cash, but many can pay it off by taking out a mortgage.

I agree with you but as I stated I've planned for those things as well. I'm not stretching my finances thin for this truck. Otherwise I wouldn't buy it.

Just as easy to get a secured loan with vehicle as collateral if you need money. Gone are the days of 0% percent (for now), but 0 to extremely low interest is the only reason it really makes sense to not pay cash if you have the money, because if you have that much, chances are you dont desperately need it for something else.

I did it once. Got $2,500 off MSRP, they made up about $1,000 of it in crap. I was ok with that at the time. I won't be buying at Toyota in the SE Toyota region ever again.

Imagine your reaction if someone offered to pay you X amount each month, just to continue driving the corolla.

X = your monthly payment for the tacoma + the difference in insurance premiums + money saved due to corollas better gas mileage.

I get that view point and I've done that the last 5 years really. But at some point I want something I like and will enjoy. I've went thru this debate in my head for so long. I also wanna enjoy life/money too.

That, sir, is the best argument yet. It's called discretionary funds for a reason. You've worked hard, do something for you.

I totally get it. As long as you understand the financial cost/consequences of the purchase, it’s really up to you.

I remember a while back I was trying to be financially responsible and bought mid-range street tires for my truck. They work fine really, but they weren’t what I wanted and I absolutely hate them every time I drive. It isn’t 100% logical, but neither am I. Sometimes it’s wise to take the joy of the purchase into account as well. I think sometimes when trying to be fiscally responsible we can underweight how we feel about things as a factor.

Compound interest on retirement savings is in your favor to prepare for the future while in your 20s. I am not blessing or criticizing your desire for the truck, just saying ...

Buy two. In different colors so they will match your shoes.

Lifes too short. Drive the truck you want as long as it doesn't burden you financially.

Interest on that loan would only be about 6k. Not great but not that bad either.

Everyone is talking about it like this man is getting a brand new F350 dually with a diesel and a 5th wheel trailer to tow.

our man here lived a frugal life in a punishment box … I.E 10 year old Corolla.

now he wanted to get a discounted Tacoma that is one of the cheapest trucks on the market … for cash and not even stretch pay and everyone is talking about investing ?

the fuck? Could get cancer tomorrow and die. Let him live a little
