I didn’t represent anything as fact. Nice try painting me as the victim for simply pointing out the incorrect accusations. Guess you too are easily offended when I share something you don’t agree with. Why try to shut me up? Isn’t that the definition of cancel culture and censorship?

All Toyota v6 suffer from this. Even the old 4.0. Most believe it’s manufacturing.

The logic behind oci affecting the sealant is the oil becomes acidic with fuel over time along with the dirt suspended in the oil.

I’ve seen more issues with sealant leaks with late oil changes than early or on time.

5.7 tundras have much more issues with the 10k intervals. Leaks and timing chains.

Ok their Bud. Please school me on how I’m wrong and you are right. Show me the data that indicates a 10K OCI was optimally decided. The mere point Toyota decided to land on this interval is likely not based on optimal engine life.

Here’s your chance foreskin! Show all your friends how smart you are and smack me down. It’s easy to do if “you” only have the facts, as you purport yourself having.

Coolant can become acidic over years depending on the type. I suppose oil can if it collects enough moisture in it, but thats likely not to happen even with yearly 20k mile oil changes. Oil leaks are usually design/manufacturing issues, or use of sub standard materials.

100%. A timing cover should not leak no matter 5k oil changes or 25k oil changes.

Coolant leaks because of acidity as well.

oil gets acidic because of fuel, we see this more in the cold regions.

I’m just suggesting a logic behind an observation. I haven’t seen many leaks from people that are on top of oil changes.

Toyota uses a different sealant on coolant as well, but this falls into design as you said.

I'm in a cold to hot region here in the northeast, and never heard such bs. Imo, most of the leaks i've seen since the 60's are due to poor design, or manufacturing of poor gasket material that doesn't last. If you don't have a proper surface for a gasket to seal on, its eventually going to leak...good gasket material or not. The quality of oil has nothing to do with it.

Then why do some but not all leak?

My samples all have long or overdue intervals as a common point.

If there was bad machining, assembly or sealant it would be far more common of an issue with specific batches.

Most common issues are addressed in tsbs that have vin ranges and production updates.

Just like bad serial runs manufactures have issues for whatever reason. I gotta believe this is the same case. You probably have a timing cover thats not of the greatest design for sealing off oil, couple that with some covers not manufactured quite perfect, or not sealed perfect during assembly, your going to have a leak sooner, or later. My guess toyota knows this, and its too costly for a redesign, or recall vs the number they see that fail.

I've changed my oil since it was new every 5k miles and have a leak so that seems unlikely in my case
