I stash little amounts of money away here and there, sell stuff off from old hobbies, small part of tax returns, bonuses from work, any cash I get from birthdays, or Christmas.
When people hit my truck with their car, and their insurance gives me a check. I spend that too. I don't think I even had that check 24 hours before it left my hands to go to Relentless.:D
Oh, I have a good job, I dont live with mom and dad, I have an awesome wife who also works to help pay the bills, and puts up with my spending. No credit card debt.

I bought my truck when I made $9 an hour. Luckily I still lived at home so I had no expenses, thus I saved up cash and wrote a hefty check.

    Maybe :spy:

I am kind of weird when it comes to cash. When I have it in my pocket, I see the money as "already spent" I used to just buy stupid crap with it, most of the time it was soda and candy from the store or fast food when I already packed my lunch. So when I saved up for my first pistol, what I did, was at the end of the day, no matter how much I had in cash, I would stash it in my "Kimber fund". I was amazed at how fast it piled up. So thats what I still do. Any cash in my pocket at the end of the day, goes into my truck fund. Usually a couple 1s or a 5 or 10. Sometimes its a 20, very rarely its a hundo.

Well, in my case, we're living together. She doesn't get too pissed about mods, although I am having a tough time convincing her that i NEED that All-Pro front bumper...

"babe this bumper would benefit our safety, not only would it potentially save us it, but it would more than likely save our truck in the unfortunate event of an accident." blah blah blah :D you got this man!

Hahaha I haven't tried that angle yet, but it's worth a shot. Hell, if it doesn't work, I'll just do the usual: let it show up in the mail one day and act just as surprised as she does

I don't drink. (much) I don't smoke. I don't gamble. I work three jobs, try to balance living today and planning for tomorrow, and having a little fun now and then. Work hard, play hard.

I cleared out about $70k in debt in about a year. Part of that came from selling a truck, a car, and a motorcycle. The other part was a change in my spending habits. I stopped eating lunches out, I bought a super cheap car for cash, and I set up automatic payments into my savings and investment accounts. Since then I've refinanced my house into a 15 year loan (which I now also consider an investment), and built up enough of a cushion to live with zero paycheck for about 12 months.

However, after living with a $2k car for about 8 months, I gave up. I was late to work 2-3x a week because of car trouble, and the money I was paying to keep it running was almost like a car payment. So, I bought a brand new truck. I couldn't justify the cost of a used tacoma when a new one was only a few thousand more. Even with the new payment of $450 a month plus the extra money going into my house my finances haven't changed because of a promotion.

Rich? Nope. Live with my parents? Nope. Married? Nope. Ran up my credit card? Nope. Receiving taxes from your check? Yes, but not that much.

For me, being single, with a good job, it comes down to discipline and goal setting.
