Guess it depends what kind of relationship you have with your dealer. I've always gotten $1K off my Pros. I understand this year is very different so I'm fine paying MSRP, especially since my Tundra I'll be trading in is worth more on a trade in than I paid a year ago.

Friend of mine just bought new Tacoma TRD Off road for MSRP in the Portland, Oregon area. He told me during his search there were only two dealers within a couple hundred miles along the I-5 corridor that were not charging above MSRP.

I say keep searching. We as a society need to stop agreeing to this type of markup. The supply will eventually sort itself out. In the meantime, let’s not give reasons for prices to remain high (aka buying over priced vehicles).

TTL is a separate line item from MSRP and will always be an added cost.

The dealers here don't list that as a line item on the window sticker. and TTL is different for different states, so it's a better reference to use the MSRP as a base. Still this might not be easily related to different areas due to the fact of different option packages.

I always thought you could get a better deal on the SD. More than one dealership said the mark up was 2k, and that people are paying it. I don't know if people are paying the mark up or not.

has nothing to do with society

dealers allow what the market will bear

nothing is compelling an individual to pay premiums over MSRP

man sitting at home with remote in hand decides to be sucker bait

    all on his own

    why blame the dealer

To all of you who think your vehicles are worth more now than when you bought it, I would ask "is the vehicle worth more, or the $ worth less?"

We move through quite a few trucks a year on our fleet.. thing is people still need trucks. If price went 10k over current msrp enough people would still buy them as work tools, we don't have a choice. Not buying isn't an option and prices wont fix till supply issues sort themselves out. Not holding our breath till at least 2023-24.

Why wouldn't the dealer charge more. he still wants to make money but isn't moving nearly as many vehicles cause he can't get them. Every F-250-450 Powerstroke is sold the second it leaves the delivery truck.

Last I spoke to my dealer in central CO, was looking at MSRP on a pro and a bit below on an OR. Decided to wait for the 2022 models and waiting on official pricing. It's interesting that the Toyota site has some of the 2022 models on the builder but not the Pro or the Trail.

If you put in zip code 75001 on toyota.com it will let you build and price a Pro. I'm assuming if you build and price an SR5, that there will be an option for the trail package. That's how it was when I built and priced my 21 Tundra Trail.

Last week dealer in Mid Hudson Valley, NY was $1000k over MSRP. Didn't help they way undervalued my trade(2017 Tacoma TRD...) but didn't care about that as I could sell privately or just CarMax/Carvana it... Still looking.

Dealer in Kingston NY told me to order one in my area instead. He grabbed the IP from my VPN and thought I was 100 miles away. His loss....

I do like my Taco a lot, but when I was buying and looking local on Long Island I would laugh in their face when they were attempting to educate me on "market adjustment". When I went to Tarbox Toyota the day to buy, and pickup my truck sight unseen, I told my salesperson flat out no games. I had just some nice pancakes for breakfast, and was prepared to walk away. I wanted the truck. I didn't need the truck. Try at all costs to yourselves not to pay over MSRP. Anything is price gouging.
