I have a flowmaster 10 series muffler on my 4.0 tacoma and was wondering if it was legal or not, I have not seen many tacomas with them.

it is louder than the 40 series, it sounds almost like there is no muffler on my truck, it is classified as a race muffler on the flowmaster site. it is a very small muffler.

Laws vary from state to state but i don't think that could be legal.

Sounds pretty nice! It doesn't sound overly loud like that mustang. How long have you had it on? Like i said laws vary from state to state. Check your state laws on that.

thanks padilla1880. Ive had the muffler on for about 3 months it got a little bit louder than when i first had it. I like it better than the trd exhaust, the 10 series is more throaty deep sounding. I guess not alot of people have them because they must not be legal. I live in NH so hopefully it will pass emissions not too sure though.

Just wondering what your decision making was in choosing the 10 series, and was the 10 series your first pick?

I wanted something loud for my tacoma so i thought the 10 series was the loudest so i thought id give it a try. I was really leaning toward a flowmaster 40 though because i thought the 10 series is not legal since it is a single chambered race muffler. so if my truck doesnt pass inspection i will probably put a flowmaster 40 on. How do you like your flowmaster 40? Is it loud because i really want a loud muffler but want to pass inspection also.

I'm guessing it's not legal. If they classify it as a "race part" then it may not pass emissions- depending on the shop you take it to and the requirements in NH.

The Taco sounds a bit deeper, I think because the 4R has a resonator behind the muffler still.
