been doing a lot of researc today and saw a buy back program for pre 2005 Tacomas...was the problem fixed for 2nd generation models? Just curious mine looks fine, not 100% but solid. I am wondering if this is something we will be dealing with in the future!!!

Frame rust is a problem for any vehicle (not just Tacoma's) in the northren states where salt is used during the winter. Take care of your frame, and you should be fine, if you dont live in the salt belt. :)

As of know the program is for 1st gens b/c of the foreign steel frame. If you fall in the years for the program you'll take the truck to a toyota dealer. They then inspect the frame to see how "bad" it is for certain key areas. If it's bad they'll either do a buyback or a frame replacement. If its good they will apply a "special" under coat material to "help" protect it. I've done a few inspections and some either pass or fail, not many "gray area" ones.
