Northeast PA. I'd be willing to travel to maybe eastern OH / NO VA that sort of radius. I have two Silverados (one kinda crappy) to trade in, beyond that the logistics become a pain in the ass. I mean, I can always tow one behind the other but I don't want to take a week off work to drive to Colorado for them to tell me they don't like my trades and the truck will cost me $10K extra, you know?

If I really can't find one in a reasonable distance I'll try and sell locally and I could do the fly in / drive home thing, but then you're talking another grand in plane tix / lodging......

    Thank you!

Glad we could be of help and will continue to be! Hopefully you stick around for a while! Hell, some people joined because of the Tacoma and stuck around even though the Tacoma no longer fit their needs!

Dealers don't even buy from the factory, they buy from distributors. 2022's are being built now. You picked the wrongest time ever to "know what you want and won't compromise" because it's the end of the model year.
Buying a Toyota requires some flexibility... meaning you won't get instant gratification. You should plan, at least now, for a six month process to get a 2022 unless there is exactly what you want coming in to some dealer somewhere... good luck with that.

All in all, enjoy your Jeep man. Life is too short to be frustrated as your post suggests. Plus, you are old enough to know instant gratification is never as good as planning and waiting for the perfect... something.

Only for the TRD Pro. Is the TRD Pro the only trim you're looking at?

Like someone else had mentioned in here use the Inventory Spreadsheet that is pretty accurate. It updates overnight. You can easily filter by Tacoma, Lunar Rock, and hope to see a manual transmission. I would get familiar with what dealers are close to you and your driving distance.

In the inventory spreadsheet thread on page 5 post 84 has both the link for a daily updated list and a link with all the dealer numbers.

Keep trying an hopefully you can snag one.

I have a new '21 loaded manual OR that I would sell for the right price. It's Barcelona Red with the TRD Lift Kit and some other "OEM+" mods. We're going to the mountains this upcoming weekend so by the time I get back it would have 4500 or so miles on it.

Had I not joined TW and started reading I would have never known there was a supply issue. I looked online at my local dealer's inventory, saw a Sport with the premium audio/dynamic nav and technology packages I wanted. Called to make sure it wasn't sold, went into the dealer, negotiated a price about $2k below MSRP, left with the truck that day. That was back in mid May, about 2 1/2 months ago. Maybe supply wasn't an issue then, or maybe I just got lucky. Either way I'm glad I did it when I did.

Another Northeast PA guy here. I was at Toyota of Scranton recently - not a single new Tacoma on the lot and nothing showing on their web site now except 2021s that are due in. No Pros coming.
I'd be amazed if any dealers could get a LR Pro at this point given the time of year and low numbers that get produced - and MTs are an even smaller subset of those low numbers. I'm not sure when the swap over to 2022s begins but it would make sense that the 2021 allocations are already spoken for.

Hope you find one! You never know when one might pop up.

OP- With the way trucks are selling right now couldn't you sell one (or both) of the Chevy's local? That would really help your logistics.

OP, I was in the exact same situation you are in at the start of summer. I knew I wanted a Lunar rock TRD pro MT. I talked to 8 dealerships about ordering and to just save you further pain, just stop doing it. What you need to do is find a dealer who knows he can't get you what you want but will try to help you regardless. After calling a dealer in Montana which is pretty far away from me, I told him I'm willing to do whatever it took to get the truck I wanted.

So he helped me by using a toyota website that only the dealers have to see what TRD pro tacomas are allocated before even built within 200 miles of me. They can filter by what is reserved and what is not reserved. He found 2 trd pro MTs coming near me and gave me the dealer names and numbers to call to talk about it. He can even tell you what the build will be with accessories and MSRP.

I ended up getting white since both of them coming were white, but honestly I like the white with black look. I know you want Lunar rock, but it's not a huge deal because next year that color goes to everything else. I would assume you care more about the trim level being a pro than the color. Like you, to get what I wanted in a offroad would have cost the same or more than the Pro. Buying a loaded off road only makes sense if you could still get them for 8%, off MSRP. I got my Pro for msrp which is the same exact price it would have been before Covid. So considering how all the other trucks are more expensive because dealers won't take money off, I think its a deal.

The dealer had a 2020 trd pro on the lot for 8k more than my new one. The world makes total sense... driving a truck off the lot and making money on it....

Anyways in summary, you may have to change with a different color but it can be done. Just find a dealer who is willing to check inventory for the entire nation and tell you what is reserved and not. The last bit of advice I can give you is that when you do find one that way, make sure you tell the dealer that has the one coming to check their allocation of what will be coming in. Sometimes if you ask them if they have one coming they will tell you no because it's not on the lot or on a truck. I reserved mine weeks before it was built.

Edit: another reason to expand your color options is that around 4% of all tacomas built in a model year are pros... of that 4% only 1% are manual. It's really hard to find them... thats why toyota makes so little of them and it's also why they keep their value even better. Just be honest with how far you want to go and wait just for a Lunar rock. Especially if you know you don't want the highlighter color for the next year seeing as though they are about to switch production.
