I have 18% on the front and 5% on the rear with a 5% brow on the windshield. I have not had any issues with state inspection and the law says max is 50% tint on the front in my state :anonymous:

So does anyone have pics of 25%front? Problem is...what percentage would I have to do the rears to match the 25%front? Considering its already darker in the rear, how light should it be?

in theory, 25% fronts will match stock rears very closely. Just wish I could see it. Of if anyone who knows tint brands knows a good 25% tint. Doesn't look like 3M has it in their premium tints.

Care to share tint percentages? Also are you certain they tinted the rear windows and it didn't already come factory dyed?

TX legal limit is 25% front driver and passenger but you can do limo in back. Brow is 25% too but I did limo on that. No issues yet. Even passed inspection. Tinted windshields will fail inspections and get ya pulled over :(

Colorado legal is 30%. I went with it and it looks good to me, also did 30% brow strip on windshield. A little dirty in the pic upload_2020-3-26_23-37-55.jpg

    I drive a Miata.
Once upon an ancient time I was into Cadillacs. In my college days I drove an old Fleetwood Brougham, which I put 10% tint on all windows, with 70% on the windshield.

I got pulled over in Midland Texas one day. State Trooper actually had a tint measuring device on him. Not only did I get a monster ticket that day, but he wasn't going to let me drive away unless I physically peeled off the front windows and windshield right there in the shoulder of interstate 20. If I didn't comply he told me flat out that his buddy with the tow truck was more than willing to take me off the road. He literally stayed and watched for the next hour while I worked those front windows with a razor blade.

That was the last time I ever ran a car that wasn't technically street legal.

Figured I’d chime in here even if a few months late. I’ve been wondering about these same questions so went to my local tint shop, they measured the back windows with the privacy glass at 27%.

I went 20 on the front, 50 on the windshield. All ceramic. 70 on the rear to add uv protection. Won’t own a vehicle without windshield tint in the south. Did the same configuration on the wife’s t4r. Visibility at night is fine.

My advice is if you you get pulled over and you have tint, roll ALL your windows down before the officer approaches your vehicle. It will make the whole interaction that much smoother and they will appreciate it and be way more at ease. Happy memorial day weekend!

It helps that I am law enforcement haha. Windshield tint is the norm in the south though. Very rarely would anyone get pulled over for tint down here. Now up north, ya in a heartbeat. Got pulled over 3 times in va traveling to hunt and luckily they let me go being Leo, but man they don’t mess around.

I had a friend with a Ford F150 who had his Windows tinted here in BC. Cops would pull him over, and he'd produce a note from his doctor stating it's required due to sun sensitivity.

Yes. You can get a note or RX from your eye doc for light sensitivity.

Anyone know how the calculation works to get a desired tint % when adding tint on top of privacy glass? My privacy glass on the back windows measured out at 27% and I want to get them down to around 20%. My tint shop told me he’ll put 35% tint on top of the privacy glass and that would get me to 20%. But I’ve read elsewhere that typically you’d multiply the tint levels to get the end result, so 27% times 35% would actually be 9% which would be too dark for me. Curious if anyone had any thoughts on this, thanks!

So 35% on top of the privacy glass in the back turned out to be 14%. First pic is before, 2nd pic after. From certain angles you can’t see in the back at all, and there are no issues seeing out for me. Front windows are 30%.

I just had the fronts done in 3M FX-Premium 25%. When we held up the sample tint to the window it “looked” like a perfect match. When I arrived, I was a little disappointed that it didn’t. The OEM rears are quite a bit warmer in tone. I’m going to apply the 3M FX 55% in the rears & back window to see if that helps match the “colors” a bit. I know the backs will be darker, which is fine with me. Best of luck on your tint choice.
