    Well let’s look at facts?
Both are basically the same truck.
    Same frame.
    Same body parts.
    Same engine.
    Same transmission
    Same rear end
    Same front end
    The difference:
    suspension.
    The interior accents
    The wheels
    Badging
    Snorkel
    Etc...
personally I have never seen any factory parts that couldn’t be upgraded to better aftermarket parts. I’ve never seen any top performing competition vehicle that came Straight off a showroom floor (stock).

    the difference IMHO is psychological.

‘if it helps people sleep at night that they got (in their minds) a better deal by buying the Pro? then Great!

if it help people sleep at night that they got (in their minds) a better deal by buying an SR5 and building it to a killer Offroad beast? That’s Great also!

Some people like to buy things aNd just drive it, some people like to build it the way they want it.

as far as re-sale? That has too many different factors.
99% of people will hold the factory built truck in a higher value, simply because the credentials of the person who built the truck is more than likely, unknown. (Not proven)
And a factory built vehicle has a higher chance the components are compatible.
Simply because you buy the most expensive top of the line components, will Not assure that those components will work well together. (Believe me I’ve been down that road more than once. LMAO)

in closing, to even ask such a question and expect a simple answer, is idiotic! (Sorry not trying to insult the OP). Just stating a fact.
You’ will never get an un biased opinion. It will Always be just that! An opinion!

I have the Pro grille...but with all the rest of the stuff I've done it's not a Pro. It's better than a Pro.

No, it's really not an opinion. If it didn't leave the factory as a Pro its not a Pro. It's really that simple. Doesn't matter what you've done to the Pro its still a Pro. Doesn't matter what you've done to the OR its still an OR.

It doesn't look that different, mainly upgraded suspension. I'm waiting on skids and sliders to come, as well as a new front bumper. Then I'll get pictures :D

I guess that’s like saying if you purchased a red truck but at some point you paint it black? You will always have a Red truck!

if that helps you sleep at night? Great!

    In resale value....no.

In my extremely very humble opinion.

There are only 2 Tacoma trim levels that are worth buying in stock configuration:
TRD off road & the 4 Cyl SR

They are what they are with no fluff and compromises.

The SR5 is a TRD sport without the hood scoop
The sport is an SR5 with the hood scoop
The limited is an SR5 with the premium package and chrome
The pro is the TRD off road with a premium package, better shocks and a bunch of useless cosmetic crap like a TRD exhaust, hood scoop, different colored wheels and grill. (looks cool though)

    I agree with this lol.

My point is/was you also have people who would look at 2 identical trucks with the same parts sitting next to each other and claim that the truck branded TRD Pro is better than the TRD OR when it's the same truck. I don't get (and won't get) how you can assign more value to one of 2 identical trucks simply because one of them is branded a TRD Pro.

I guess the hypothetical would go something like this: You're in the market for a Taco, you see 2 trucks one is a TRD OR modded out to TRD Pro specs for 25K (it has it all). Next to it is a stock TRD Pro for 35K. The same truck. Which do you choose? I know my answer.

Any way to answer the original question without out getting all existential and crap; a upgraded TRD OR is not in the strictest sense of the definition a TRD Pro.

    Clear as mud?

And just as a edit I Personally don't think Toyota should allow access to OEM Pro parts unless you have a Vin'd TRD Pro. If you're going to charge a premium for a TRD Pro then it needs to be set apart from the rest of the stable.

    IMO

There are always the Pro Take-offs availability ... Toyota is not going to be able to do anything about that.

hell , they even encourage putting on the “pro” parts.

your comparison of the trims is not really accurate.

TRD sport and OR are the same except the sport has a hood scoop and stiffer suspension instead of the locker, crawl control, and softer suspension.

limited is an SR5 with appearance package.

Pro is a TRD OR with an appearance package.

For me, this guy ^^^ sums it up... All about the vin.

I sooo want in On this thread but there is a lot of repetition and I don’t think this conversation will ever end.

If the question was... “will my OR With pro parts added perform the same as a Pro” then my answer would be a yes. But as the question is written my answer is no.

    Out...

If you’re asking if a European man can become a Negro man simply by changing his color? That’s like asking if a Ford can become a Chevy by changing it’s color.
    Huge difference!
