90% of the trucks here have at least one pro part on them... I don’t think it really matters at all

You couldn't sell it as a Pro, so no.

That said, is the PRO Taco like the PRO 4runner? The PRO 4runner arrives in the US as an ORP, and they slap on some Fox shocks and stickers, etc. Mechanically, it's identical to an Off-road.

Does the PRO Taco offer anything that the off-road doesn't? (Aside from shocks/cosmetic upgrades)

Right. I know that, which is why I said "no" to the original question. I was just asking out of curiosity.

Well ... not quite. Unlike those examples, The Pro is pretty much the same as the OR except for the shocks/suspension, some bolt on pieces and cosmetics. It’s the same basic truck, same engine, transmission, body, interior etc. I wish it were more unique (V8 or super charger or body panels) but it’s not.

I would have no interest in owning a poser "PRO" personally. It's right up there with "raptor lights."

However, there's nothing wrong with modding the truck to your liking. Just don't try to pass it off as a PRO.

Really? The answer is in my statement "But, a Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is built in a Toyota factory and comes off the line with a VIN defining it as such." Anything you do to your vehicle after that - including taking a VIN plate from another vehicle and sticking it on yours - doesn't affect what it is. You can replicate a Pro all you want...but it's just that. A replica.

And no argument about what components are different, or what might be added to an OR or a Sport to upgrade it will change that basic fact. You may very well end up with a vehicle that is more capable, or less expensive with whatever Pro parts or others you might add. It's still not a Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro.

Honestly, I have no issue with people adding Pro parts to their Tacomas because they like the results...but badging them and/or representing them as a Pro is wrong.

Gonna beg to differ, I do get somewhat what you are saying there but, you cherry picked my quote, in full context I said "the people putting the new headlights that say “TRD PRO” on non pros or badging/decals, etc. is pretty lame".

You wanna put every accessory part like the grille, rigid fogs, hood scoop, suspension, tails, shift knob etc. on there by all means, but when you slap the word's TRD PRO on your non PRO you are basically calling it something it is not, just like a mustang owner slapping a GT badge on his non GT that he stuck every accessory on to make it look like one and trying to call it something it is not.

The only time it actually matters is when you buy it and when you sell it.

Do whatever you want to your truck, fuck anyone who doesn't like it.

It may be a little nit-picky but I just disagreed with that part of your analogy but also wholeheartedly agree with the rest of your post.

Gotcha, I get your point of you can't swap a V6 and V8, like you can the suspension, the parts I mean are pretty much all accessories anyways, what rubs me the wrong way is the badging, etc. But its other people's vehicles so do what you please, just the OCD in me.
