Is it a waste getting a TRD Pro if I know I’m going to lift it

I think the phrase “pro-rated LIFETIME warranty “ is legalese for saying… for each day that goes by your warranty claim is reduced while leveraging the LIFETIME term to fool everyone.

Hey do you mind sharing what lift you went with?

But to chime in I wanted a TRD PRO since i saw the first one. I did not know there were so many TRD options until I started looking last year. I test drove a 2019 with 20k in DFW and they wanted 53k for it used. I test drove an OR package and felt close to same. TRD PRO drove like a dream. But I really wanted lunar rock, have same intentions 2.5-3" lift on 33s. I tried to find a TRD PRO with no markup and gave up quick. Settled for a TRD OR Lunar rock DCSB premium with leather, heated seats, sunroof, technology package. Although I just ordered it, well dealer had one coming so i paid for it up front and asked to add advance tech package as it goes into production march 9th in baja mexico. I paid a lot less for a brand new one even with 3k Market adjustment. I looked and found several places not charging adjusted market but I could not wait any long with my daily driver ac going out. Its hot here in texas.

When I configured an OR with all the things I wanted I was so close to the price of the PRO that for me it made more sense to go with the PRO. Add in the costs and time associated to replace the OR suspension it was a no brainer for me.

If I didn't care for the bells and whistles I'd go for the trail package and work from there.

I bought a fully loaded OR for almost $10,000 less then the Pro. My OR has pretty much everything except the shocks, exhaust, skid plate, and I’m still upgrading my OR and when I’m done I won’t be anywhere near the $10,000.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
Looked at the Pro, but got an Off Road and am in the process of modding the shit out of it. No sense in spending the extra coin on a truck I was going to mod anyway.

Kings front and back remote reservoir and compression adjustment. Long travel. They literally smooth out wash board roads. nice surprise for the wife a week ago. We have a few local short washboard road sections. Rear, I just did a long add a leaf. I will eventually go with an aftermarket leaf pack setup.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Really? Crawl Control is useless. The locker is not needed thanks to the auto-LSD and electronics controls. I have never - not one time - needed to use the locker. My son and I have hit serious trails and the truck is so capable that it does just fine. Maybe the problem is a lack of skill on your part being made up for with lockers and electronics? Half the time you should be able to run straight 2WD with auto-LSD and do fine. If not .. maybe look in the mirror to find the problem.

LMAO, serious trails in 2WD!!! LMAO.

And I specifically bolded your comment in question. It really is an uninformed comment if you really believe that. bless your little heart. You obviously have not hit hard trails in any way shape or form.

This. I bought my SR5 used (17k miles) and have upgraded it to be significantly better than an OR or PRO for less than the cost of a new one. I don't have the tech package, ATRAC, etc. but what I saved buying the SR5 I have more than made up for by aftermarket purchases in making this a better more capable truck.

I'm probably in the $15-16K range with everything.

Don't make me have to pull it all together or put it in writing or I can't claim ignorance to the wife......

I will break it down this way:

    Expensive but functional:
Icon 2.5 & UCAs front, Icon 2.0 rear, Icon RTX Stage 2 leafs
    RSI Smartcap Evo Sport
    ARB Rear Locker
    5.29 regear
    RCI Full Skids
    RCI Rock sliders
    R4T LCA Skids
    Exhaust reroute
ARB Dual Compressor w/ Slee Mount
    TRD SEMA Pro 17" wheels
    Falken Wildpeaks 275/70r17

    Less expensive but functional:
    KDMax Pro tune
    ARB Recovery Point
    Total Chaos bed stiffeners
    Caliraised Hidden Grill light bar
Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro fog lights
    Rigid D-SS Pro Ditch lights
    A/C drain mod
    Differential Breather Mod
    Supralee Traction Board mount
    Liftd Gas cap holder
    Taco Garage DMM 2.0
    DesertDoesit Seat Jackers

Expensive but not required (want not need):
    Yakima Double Haul
    OVS 270 Awning

Less expensive but not required (want not need):
    OR Black Fenders
    TRD Pro Grill
    Ecological Bumper shells
Waterport Day Tank - Rago Fab bed mount
    Wet Okole seat covers

Some people don't want to mess with the diff/add a locker while it's still under warranty, and I think the OR and the PRO get a beefier rear axle (not sure about that though). Plus the options for factory leather and other TRD-only options (like the inverter outlet in the bed).

Yes, the TRDOR and TRDPRO both have larger beefier differentials than the sr5, limited and trd sport. Except the sport manual comes with the same diffs.

Love my leather interior and premium stereo.

My sport crawls the malls pretty well. 2” lift, 31s and no lockers.

Funny thing is I did better than most on my last wheeling trip. Going back was pretty extreme. Even the guys were surprised. I am running the smallest tires in the group and only got Auto LSD. Also, I was the last one going back and got the worst of it, 2-3 foot ruts filled with water, was just a nightmare.

So yeah, the sport is a very capable off-roading machine.:)

Use the money you saved on an OR over a Pro to supercharge the truck and actually have enough power.
