    Hi,
Is it best to wait into 2017 production to buy a truck clean of problems like rear end howl, steering/body vibration, transmission TSBs, etc?
Are they there yet with QC at this point (August 2016 production) ?

Still driving older Gen 1 trucks 3.4L and 2.4l manuals that just keep going, but would like a bit more power for towing an 1100 lb. trailer, and some more comfort.

    What's your take?
    Thanks,
    Jay

There are no guarantees any model year will be free of problems. If you do have problems, you'll have a warranty. Just do it, life is short.

    1. Welcome to TW.
    2. Just get the truck and be happy with it, everything will be fine.
    3. Ignore every possible insult about to hurled your way - they don't really mean it.
    4. Ok, they do mean it, but they were about to be banned anyway.
    5. Did I say just get the truck yet? Get the truck.
    6. Once you get the truck...

    Personal rules

    1. Never buy the first year of a remodel

    2. Always buy a year model as soon as they come out (in the fall) because cars depreciate based on year model not how long you've owned them.

I would wait, I also heard the bed is separating from the cab and engine idle changes when you turn the wheel in park, also plugging holes for wind noise is major. Combined with all differentials failing and the tranny tsb, OMG.
Get a Ridgeline with the dash with all ights that come on intermittently like a Christmas tree, hear it's pretty.
You could also get a Civic and hope they remember to put c clips this time on the connecting rods and not shut production down

Known concerns are cut off by VIN number not a production date.

Also, the dipstick sticks and the oil cap disappears at random intervals.

Always going to be problems. The last 2 years of Tacoma has problems.

    Buy when you want.

    OK,
Warranties are a good thing. But if you live over 100 miles from a dealer and may have to drive over a 10,500 ft pass in winter to get there and arm twist them, it starts to de-value the warranty. This is after paying out the big $$ to be a lab rat.

Other than some crankshaft position sensors in a bad batch a while ago they're pretty much hasn't been any talk about breakdowns considering the quantity they sold

I have the 2016. It really is a great truck. Since the TSB mine has been perfect.

The 2017 is year two of the 3rd gen. Heck, even the current 2016s have items fixed that those of us from the earlier runs had.

If you're gonna sweat every little thing you'll drive yourself crazy. If you want the 2017, get the 2017.
