Is it better to stick with 16/17" wheels for daily driving?

I didn't read through all the previous posts but I feel like you'll save some money on a 16" or 17" tire and wheel combo compared to jumping to an 18" set up. Personally I liked 16" set ups on my 2nd Gen but I think 17's are perfect for 3rd gens.

Tonneau cover, Black exhaust tip, blacked out badges and tailgate lettering. Black rhino(glamis)18x9 wheels with +12 offset. LT265/70/18 Toyo Opencountry ATIII. Metaltech 4x4 rock sliders Cali Raised lower grill light bar/mounts TRD Pro Skid, DD Fogs(pro), Ironman 4x4 FC pro lift.
Got tired of reading all the posts here. But I run 18” wheels with a 265/65/18 and do a fair amount of off roading. I also commute to work in the truck and the ride is fine. It’s not a Lexus, but it is good enough.
However, I would go back to a 17” if I knew better(my first tacoma came with 18”aftermarket wheels). There is more options and the ride I imagine would be a little better.
But if you go with 18” you’ll be good too.

I agree with that, but this is me, and I'll have the wheels and tires in the garage waiting when the truck gets here, so I'll probably be driving on the OEM stuff for maybe a week or two before I switch them out, if that.

That's the tire size that the Sports come with, and I plan on staying with that size.
    Good looking truck BTW.

Whatever I put on the truck will be the year 'round combo, but I'll keep the stocks as back ups in case I need them.
Then too, I may just sell 'em later.

My truck is in the shop getting a set of NV 305 in bronze. This photo made me do it.

Went thru all three sizes. 17” OEM first then 18” and back to 17” for a while and now rocking the 16”s. All with KO2s mounted. I can’t tell a god damn difference between them onroads. KO2s-load E are 10 ply so they stiff as hell to begin with. I tell you tho, I switched to General Grabber ATX on the 18” and it was BUTTER smooth on any roads. They just heavy as shit. Point is choose the right tires.

I offroad mostly on sand dunes since I live near the beach. The 16” KO2s are killing it. I aired it down to 10 psi and I could pull a boat to the water. Everyone else with their goofy groceries rated BMWs, KIAs and Hondas crossovers couldn’t get out of my tire prints, which often make me the hero of the day doing recoveries, sometimes with an insisted $50 and they’re ready to throw in their daughters for free.

I like them all size wheels. But I’m sold on the 16”, for now.

Off topic but this is what my truck does on the weekends. No rocks around here to crawl but with views like these I’m not missing it.

Stock the Sport handles very good with a fairly stiff suspension. Drive the truck for a while before making any decision that will make for an even stiffer ride.

Man, every car (except my wifes) that I own is lowered, so I'm familiar with stiff rides, LOL!!
I think that I'm gonna go with Toyo Open Road AT's. I've already bought the wheels, and ordered the truck. I went with a 17" wheel, and I'll be going with a stock size tire. I'll also have to drive it on the stocks for a couple weeks, because I'll have to take the new wheels and tires to be mounted and balanced.
