Is it just my area or is there a shortage of Tacomas?

Finally in the market for a tacoma but it seems like there is a mass shortage going on in my state. Any thoughts when supply will pick up again?

 

Probably 2021 if there isn’t another outbreak that shuts down the plants again.

 

Not really a shortage but Tacoma’s are being sold faster than dealers can restock them.

 

I put money down as soon as I found my Access Cab. These Tacomas sell themselves faster than the dealers can even clean them up. This Speedway Blue is my 3rd Toyota truck and in each case I've had competition for the truck. I've had 1 bought out from under me, and 1 time a guy beat me to the car lot by 10 minutes. If you know what configuration and color you want, DO NOT HESITATE because it will be gone.

 

I did a check last week in the Phoenix area. It is not just Toyota. There are few mid size trucks of any make to be had.

 

No new Tacoma’s in Rapid City, SD...dealer has no stock. Top dollar for used!

 

So I should wait till the new frontier hits? Seems like Ill be paying MSRP for a tacoma since they are selling like hotcakes.

Our local dealer has 3 AC SR Utility Package 2wd 4cyl, 1 Double cab SR, and 1 AC 4WD V6. They also only have 2 SR5 4Runners, and 2 Limited 4Runners.

 

Yeah there’s a shortage. There’s a shortage of many of makes and models.

Now is definitely not the time to buy a car unless you have to.

I remeber when coronavirus first hit they said used car prices were going to plummet and yada yada. Look how that turned out.

Most I'm seeing are pool boy trucks, sr white base.

 

New purchase is different. I've only bought used trucks. If you're buying new, by all means play 3 dealerships against each other on the price.

 

Nope. My 09 civic is doing pretty damn well. But I'm ready for a upgrade and a change.

 

Would like to. But I cant justify spending the same money on a used when I can get a new for the same price

 

Covid19 effects.

People decided that mass transportation isn’t their thing anymore. Traded in planes, trains, for automobiles.

People have decided that they don’t want to share. Lyft and Uber are in trouble. So much for the sharing economy.

Automotive production still isn’t up to 100%. So a general shortage of auto’s people want combined with high demand = higher prices.

 

My two local dealerships definitely have less units than normal. One has only one new 2020 and seven used. And the used ones are high. 38K for a 2017 off road. The other dealership has seven for sale, one new off-road and get this, they show to have two new Pro's in Army Green.

 

Here are mine and my sons Poor Boy SR’s.
His is the Silver one and mine is the MGM. Currently he is in Tech School for the Air Force and is only 18. Not to bad for an 18 year olds first truck.

 

I did a 5 state search and ended up driving 560 miles one way to Michigan from Minnesota to pick it up. If you're not willing to drive a day in any direction your choices will be even more limited. If you know what you want and can find it used in less than 700 miles from you, go after it like a crazy man.
Ha, at least that approach worked for me.
