Is it just my area or is there a shortage of Tacomas?

I usually buy a year or two used with low miles. I prefer a like new vehicle that has been serviced at the dealership where I can see a record of service where bugs have been worked out.

 

Buy what you really want and like to drive. For money’s sake, don’t settle.

I bought one of the last two TRD OR on the lot at a local Autonation dealer.
8% off MSRP and got 98% KBB value on my trade.

The last OR left on the lot had dealer installed lift-kit with 3k price tag added

The word is September will get more inventory but price will still be dictated by demand.

 

2021 Frontier gets facelift, 2020 has new engine/trans but old chassis. Tacoma resale value > every other truck on the road.

 

I've wanted a Blue 4x4 Tacoma since I was in high school. This is just 1 of the reasons I put money down immediately upon finding it. I agree 100% with Ronk. Be prepared to go all out for the truck you want. There's nothing worse than settling for a distant 2nd place truck and continually kicking your own ass thinking, Damn, I wish I'd bought the truck I really wanted. The Rangers and Colorados are available for a reason (they suck in comparison).

 

I guarantee those white SR work trucks get used as actual trucks far more than whatever poser truck you drive

They're purposely holding inventory to sell stock at a higher price. Every time the dealer near me sells one a new one appears. This has been going on for months. I'm sure there's not as many but there's not two per dealership out there. Nobody bought anything for two months. Those trucks were already built.

 

This isn't just with pickups. Dealerships across the country have seen record sales since COVID started. I got my truck about a month after everything here shut down and it sounds like it was a good thing I did. New car sales are down overall, but used car sales have skyrocketed. Dealerships are begging for trade ins because they can't keep inventory in stock. But, this can't keep up for long.

Let's also not forget the people who were making a lot more suddenly due to the stimulus package.

 

I went 795 to get my Tacoma TRD sport 4x4 6 speed manual back in February none in my state I only like manual transmission cars & trucks so looks like I will be keeping this one plus it’s One of the last ones built in Texas USA all Tacoma’s for 2021 model year will be built in Mexico i so went for it now with the 5 in the Vin.

 

I purchased a TRD OR 4x4 last week, the SR5 4x4 I looked at a few days earlier was gone the next. The OR had been delivered the day before I bought it. I feel like I got a good deal and didn't feel like the dealership was trying to over price it.

 

I was told by the GM at the local Toyota Dealer that there is a shortage of Tacomas in certain regions. Florida being one of them.

He said there selling them faster than they can stock them due to a shutdown in production back in March and April. it's starting to pick back up but it's going to be slow. That is what he said. Take it or leave it.

With this in mind if you're in the market for a Tacoma. I would wait til the end of the month to try and make a deal. This is when sales people need to make there quota for the month.

I know just by looking at Carvana and Carmax that used Tacomas are selling for quite a bit more than KBB.

 

toyota of dallas has 121 tacomas in stock as of this post.

however, they only have three off roads and one pro.

 

Basically, as many have said, use the internet and be prepared to drive. I had been looking for about a month and had to drive 2 hours away, which wasn't actually that far compared to how far I was prepared to drive.

 

In mid to late September the new Tacoma’s roll up the 405/5 Freeway from the Mexico Plant into California for delivery. Obviously take into fact that delivery across mid west to east coast states may take a little (not a lot) longer.

I always enjoy seeing the new colors (last years pro only colors) roll out on the regular models on those semi trucks. That’s how I know they are the new model year.

just wait a few more months for the 2021s. They are coming.

I guess there's a shortage everywhere. My local Team One has like 3 Tacomas on the lot and drove by Serra the other day, and only had a few there too. There's usually a half of a parking lot full of Tacomas.
