So with this mystery solved I guess I am good to go with 255 85 16 tires?

All though I am kind of dissapointed now that I see that BFG AT KO's do not come in this size only the MT. It currently has 235 85 16 Cooper ST Maxx's now (came with the truck). They were OK tires but I was wanting the BFG's :( Thats what I have drove for many years on my other trucks.

I'm running 5100's on the 1.75 setting and a deaver aal in the rear on my regular cab. 285/75/16s fit with little trimming. Wanted 255/85/16s to avoid wheel spacers but I got a deal I couldn't pass up on the 285's. You'll be good to run 255's. Nice looking truck!

    Thanks for the compliments!

    I broke down and ordered a set of 255 85 16's

After much searching I managed to find ONE place that sells a generic brand 255 85 16 tire that looks similar to the old BFG KO2's

They are called Trailcutter RT's and are $166 each. That's a hell of a lot cheaper than any of the other 255's. I could not find any recent reviews on them but I found some older reviews on some other forums. It seems they may be made by Cooper and the brand name changes year to year. Eldorado, Tempra, Cordovan and now multi mile.

Hopefully I will not need a re-gear. I drove an 89 22re with 33 10.5 15's and 4:10's for a year and it was pretty bad. These newer trucks have a lot more power so I am hopeful.

The new 255 85 16 Tires are on! No rubbing so far. I have not off roaded it yet but I expect I will not have any issues. These trail cutter tires are actually not as wide as my old Copper 235 85 16's. They ride very well on the road and seem to have really good traction on the snow and ice. They have stud holes if you want studs on them. I expect I will never use them here in southern Ohio but its a nice option to have. Ill get some pics when I get time. So far I am very happy with the tires.

Here it is with the 255 85 16's
Runs fine. A little less power and speedo is off 3-4 mph. I still get into 5th gear around 60-65 mph. Its not too bad unless you live in major hill country you may need to re gear.

Here is a side by side comparison with my 89 and 33 10.5 15's. The trail cutters are a little taller and dont seem as wide.1218161249a.jpg
